First off, I dunno if I did the poll right, so if not, then you get the general idea of what I'm trying to say. Anyway, M. Night Shymabalalala (you know who I'm talking about), is going to be doing Avatar: The Last Air Bender, and I'm a huge fan of the cartoon series, and terrified that he's going to soil the good works of the creators (minus their ability to impliment Zutara). I mean, have you guys ever been a victim of bad Live Action movies destorying your most beloved characters? I remember a part of my soul died when I watched "Clan of the Cave Bear" and "Queen of the Damned".
Plus, this just seems to be such an in thing now...Batman, Spider Man, Iron Man, Superman, and eventually Thor last time I checked. I mean, I thought they were okay, cept for Spiderman, I dunno why, but those didn't sit well with me. My personal opinion is that it's really a hit or miss and exactly how die hard fan you are of whatever is being made into live action.

More of a concern for me is the overuse of computer graphics in films. It's often very heavy-handed in comic-based films such as Spiderman and I find that it often destroys the excitement. Where films have avoided CG they seem to tell better stories (for example, the recent Batman films were at their best when it was real people on-screen).

Maybe it's because I'm so used to seeing CG characters kicking the hell out of each other in computer games, but when I see a CG Spiderman getting pummelled it just seems dull. That could be bad writing, and that certainly doesn't help, although I can't help feeling that the lack of real people inside the costumes immediately distances the audience.

Coming up soon we have the long awaited adaptation of Watchmen. This is one of the best stories ever told in comic form, so there are a lot of fans of the book who desperately want the film to be good. From what I've seen so far it bodes pretty well because it seems to have an emphasis on having actors and stuntpeople performing the scenes. I really hope this is true. There's nothing quite like unbelievable CG to completely destroy any tension.

Do you think it's bad CG that kills a lot of the worse comic-book films?

You know, now that you brought up the fact that Spiderman was mostly CG, I could see how that would distance the audiance. Because even when big stunts are being done and it's the actual person (or a stunt double) you're like "whoa", but if you know its computer animated you're all "Eh..."...and it Spiderman they did CG even when they didn't really have to in some parts.
