I thought it might be a good idea to start this topic sooner, rather than later, knowing how long it takes us to plan anything around here.

So, in April, I will officially be old enough to get my own stick to shake at younger people. Thirty. I'd like to organise a meet sometime around then. Or March would work, too. Whenever is good for most people. The weekend nearest my birthday won't do, as it has the nerve to be Easter that weekend. Harrumph.

I was thinking London...probably just lurking in a pub as the weather around my birthday is generally unpredictable.

Anyway, thoughts? Yes/no/maybe? Previous engagements that rule out certain weekends? The moopish one and I can't do the last weekend in March, as our anniversary is on the 30th, but other than that I don't think we have anything planned.

Well I'm game. It would be totally awesome if it could be in April. As for suggestions: I wouldn't mind any weekend, 2-5 and 16-20. Or April 29th - May 3rd.

I'm totally up for it! I'll be out of school from the 17th March to the 15th April.

edit: I've checked my timetable, and those are the dates I'm off for Easter.

April sounds awesome, though I can only do the middle part. I will be in Ireland in the beginning of april and in the end I will be in Nehterlands.

Sorry, I'd love to, but I'll be in the middle of teaching chaos around then. It tends to be that point where life gets very complicated for the first year students, so I'm usually very heavily occupied pretty much 24/7. I might be able to make something at the last minute, but I'd hedge my bets to suggest I probably won't be able to get there.

Okay! East Midlands Trains are having a sale on tickets to London this weekend, and you can book up to 12 weeks in advance, so I'm going to go ahead and book tickets for the 14th sometime soon, unless someone comes up with a really strong objection.

Got my tickets as well. I arrive at 06:45 on Saturday and leave 22:40 Sunday. Now to find something to do in London thats not totally expensive. I've already reserved a few hours to lurk at Hamley's =D

It will indeed! Moop and I should be there about 2 PM.

You'll have to find it yourself, snoo, but it's really easy to walk there from Euston station. I promise! I managed it from St Pancras, and my sense of direction is horrible! Obsessive tracing of our route on Google street view helped. I think it took us about 20-30 minutes.

And BM: it's a pub, silly. I think the "what to do" is fairly self-explanatory. We lurk and we drink (well, you don't, I know) and we talk about random crap. It's a lot like IRC, but in person. And with less frightening links.

Aside from the stroopwafels, I have no idea what that stuff is, but it sounds exciting!

"Suikerbrood" is sugarbread. It's pretty sticky bread with lumps of sugar in it, very tasty. Advocaat is the Dutch equivalent of eggnog, but slightly different.
