Maturity is something that comes with experience and, not saying that you haven't been through a lot or whatever because I don't know you, at eight you don't have a lot of experience with how adults behave outside of "Quiet dear, the grown ups are talking!" or maybe the odd thing you've been dragged to with your mum and dad where you probably paid as little attention to anything but "Can we go home now?!?". ^I knew those words when I was 8. It doesn't come to me as something surprising, afterall, from what my mom and grandma and a bunch of other people have told me, kids today know alot more than they did when they were our age.

This is perfectly on topic- the Introductions forum is about getting to know people and showing them how to behave here; all the "take over the world" stuff is just a sideline. Shouting "I'm mature!" won't get half the results of behaving well and learning how to use English properly.
Mata's the one who makes the decisions about age, but I'll somewhat guilitly confess to checking the history on our computer and managing to force my twelve-year-old sister off this site after about two posts. It was underhanded and rather petty, but I didn't feel like putting her brains back in if she found one of Mike's TMI posts, I didn't think she could handle the maturity level, and I enjoy having an online space that she won't poke her nose into.

That just gave me the giggle of the day. Thank you.
