Which is a relief to be quite honest.

The thread was meant in jest - if you want a serious and sensible debate about sexism then go to the Issues Forum.

Certainly, there are several things that you have just posted that I really take exception to and I'd be happy to discuss further.

My rant is about sexism though, and so I will start out with this statement: misogynist is the word to describe one who hates or despises women. There is no word to my knowledge that describes hatred towards men.

you realize, of course, that the word is of Greek origin, and that Greek society wouldn't allow for distrust of men, but I'm sure you could just make one up happy.gif.

Men are blamed for a lot of things. A lot of women hate men; some even use us for our money. Many [awful word] hate us and others harbor hatred towards men for unknown reasons. Hatred towards men is a form of sexism; sexism in turn is a form of bigotry.

First of all, there's a rule against swearing and all that. But, seeing as a mod will probably correct you, I'll move on.

Women get blamed for just as many things as men, especially when a woman is in a bad mood. It's automaticly blamed on PMS. No matter what it is, it's always PMS. And no, most lesbians (see, a much nicer word) don't hate men, it just happens to be that the loudest voices get heard.

A clothing line was taken off the shelves when a group cried foul. The t-shirts and sandals said things like “boys are ugly. throw rocks at them” and “boys are smelly”. If t-shirts came out targeted at kids with sayings like “Women are evil; throw rocks at them” or “Women are gold diggers” or “Don’t trust anything that bleeds for seven days and doesn’t bleed” feminists groups would be having a shit fit and would begin to do a media blitz. What’s wrong with this scenario? It takes years upon years for a sexist line of clothing to be taken off the market yet a misogynistic one would never get off the ground.

Ok, but I'm sure if a group of men tried to protest it, which I don't believe they have, it would be taken off. And yes, I've seen shirts that speak badly of women.

QUOTE
I have as of yet to see a feminist group proclaiming “We want equal rights! Draft women!” I have as of yet to see a feminist group not be hypocritical, or not blame men for all their problems. I have as of yet to see a feminist group lobby for anything that promotes hatred towards men to be destroyed. It’s this kind of sexism that makes me sick.

Once again, it is only select feminist groups -the very radical ones- that have the loudest voices. That is why feminism is seen as such a dirty word, even to a large number of women.

Women have won in the ongoing battle against rape. They have made it so that when a woman says “no” at any time during intercourse or while committing a sexual act or having a sexual act performed on them the man must either pull out or stop because if he doesn’t he can be charged with rape. You heard me right, if the woman says “no” at any point while having sex you can be charged with rape, sexual assault or any other of charge the woman can think of. Some might say these new laws are fair and that this gives women more protection. This is not true; the laws are bigoted and were lobbied for by neo-feminists. These new rape laws open up the doors for corruption of the system and an influx of cases in which it’s the woman’s word against the man’s. This could prove to be disastrous; a guy dumps his girlfriend and the girlfriend turns around and claims he raped her under the new laws. The guy is sent to jail for a crime he didn’t commit because of petty spite. Where are the laws protecting me? I don’t see any but since I’m a man that makes me a pig and so I shouldn’t be able to have any rights.

Actually, the chances of a man getting thrown in jail are quite small, seeing as how the only way to prove rape is by DNA evidence. Which is hard to aquire, and is also very expensive to test. I imagine you may have heard of 'rape kits' which are designed to keep DNA fresh -so to speak- so that they can be tested. Well, guess what? There are litterally thousands of them just sitting on shelves, not being tested, while women who have been raped live in fear that their attacker will come again. And it gets better. There have been women who have asked to pay for their rape kits to be tested, and they were DENIED. Yeah, that's fair for you.

And, I must say, do try to lighten up. There's a reason why this is in daft and not in Issues, ne?

You say you're against bigotry, yet you use an offensive term for lesbians (which has now been edited out by Lo so I'm editing my post as well)? Kinda contradictory. Also, it's not unheard of for men to use women for money as well.

Well, most girls think that it’s OK to kick a guy in the nuts. They don’t seem to understand how much pain that causes.

Errr...it's not nice to make broad generalisations like that. I should think most girls realise "Hey, that's a very painful thing. I should only do that under extreme circumstances."

I really don't see the problem with the rape laws. If someone says "No, stop" at any point during a sexual act, then the other person should stop. As long as the laws work for when a man says no as well, I don't see anything bad about them.

As for there being shirts that speak badly of men, but none that speak badly of women.....uhm. tinypenis.co.uk. Enough. Said. Warning though...there are shirts on there that aren't forum appropriate. AT ALL. *cringes*

Yes I have, but unlike a man who has been kicked in the balls it lasted for three days and prevented me competing in a tournament.
Usurper MrTeapot
Really depends on exactly how bad the kick was.

In my days of secondary school I have seen (and experienced sometimes too) the horrors that was known as 'the crucifiction'. Target is taken to an unused room, strapped round a table in a cross shape but with legs open and then has his nads subjected to a series of punches and kicks.

I think after that anyone would beg for the sweet release of a period pain.

A lot of things anger me. Sexism angers me, as does racism. Bigotry angers me and hypocrisy also pisses me. I have actually seen the gold digger shirt. It was being sported by a nine year old, but that's not the point. Those shirts are a joke, and the shirts you have suggested use words such as evil in place of words like ugly, which make the shirts offensive, because they cross a line.“Don’t trust anything that bleeds for seven days and doesn’t bleed” I have actually seen a shirt in Camden that says that, I thought it was funny. However it said "Don't trust anything that bleeds for seven days and doesn't die" not bleeds for seven days and doesn't bleed, because what you put just doesn't make sense. Rather like most of your post in fact.

Many feminists are sexist towards men, and irrationaly hate them. As do many women's magazines, but if you'd talked about the actual ways in which they do this rather than the utter nonsense you have entered here then you would have had a valid point.

I agree that for equality's sake women ought to be drafted as well as men if men are to be drafted, but as a pacifist I am opposed to the drafting of troops. and (like most people) taking the instinct for self preservation into account, I and most feminists are hardly likely to lobby for women to be drafted into the army.

Also if a woman says stop why shouldn't the man have to stop. I like men. I like most men more than I like most women, this is just a personal preference. But if a girl says she doesn't want to continue but the man does then it is rape. Convictions in this form of rape are very hard to obtain, so it's not like some girl who has been dumped can just accuse her ex of rape, especially as in cases where the girl has obviously lied sometimes the lawyers of the defense can have her name released publicly.

Then your vocabulary is incomplete. The word is misandry; somebody who hates men is a misandrist. From the Greek andros, "man".

Shocking! You mean that if the girl does not, in fact, want to have sex, and the man forces her to do so, it can now be considered rape? What is this country coming to when a man can't have his way with whichever woman he pleases?

It's insights like that that make me glad I have a willy. I mean, all it does it hang there, serenely. My dear mum once told me that labour pains are akin to:

I'm with Jen on this one, having bad pain doesn't stop less painful pain still being painful. I don't think that if I ever went through the pain of labour I wouldn't stop feeling the pain as I do now, of course it's always possible that once you've been through labour your period pains actually decrease... it probably does for some people.

oooh oooh I want an army too! I pay my taxes why can't I have one, but I think that my army would go round tweaking EVERYONES nipples, we all have nipples (some of us more vestigal than others admittedly) and my army will be called "the nipple tweakers for equality" seeing as men cannot understand the pain of an ovary spitting out an egg and women cannot understand the pain of a heafty size 6 in the knackers we should all be on a level playing field with the tweaking of a mutually owned body part,

What, more random necro-posting? I never even knew that this existed. I don't remember ever actually ever kicking a guy in the balls, but I've been very tempted to do so once or twice. Generally this is when the guy is question is saying, with a very superior look on his face, that cramps are all made up so girls can get more sympathy and that they should just tough it out like men would if they had cramps. There generally isn't a rational response to this that doesn't lead to a comment along the lines of "Oh, girls are just stupid on their periods." There are only a few who do this, but it would be tempting to give them a dose of compassion that way.
Felander
In a fight situation, kicking a guy in the nads is possibly the worst thing you can do if you want to win. Most guys will have the gumption to dodge or block a kick to the goolies, and the attempt is all the more likely to enrage him.

I've found though, that being kicked in the balls is akin to being 'unplugged'. Once the initial shock is over, which isn't that painful, you're left with the far more uncomfortable dull throbbing as you feel the energy being sapped away from you.

That said, kicking a girl in her cave is far more painful and would do far more damage than kicking a guy in the nuts would ever do.

Google turns up nothing. Not that I searched thoroughly or owt.

Ok then, well, I reckon kicking a girl in her flower would be pretty messy, especially if you managed to fit your foot up there. Imagine the tearing...
Witless
Actually if you hit the testes hard enough so that they absorb most of the shock instead of the pelvis, you can knock a guy out cold.

The mass of electric pain signals that flash up to the brain can causes the person to lose conciousness without even experiencing the pain at all.

That sounds awfully merciful to me.. losing conciosness before the searing pain hits.

As for "kicking a girl in her flower" and getting your foot right up there.. that seems about as likely as kicking someone in the arse and getting your foot in there. Many a arse has been kicked and people haven't been particularly messed up.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that if one were to apply the same sort of kicking force to a girl's ovaries, without the padding the stomach fat/muscle provides, the pain would be similarly severe. Hence, period pain is possibly similarly intense for some people, because the pain is around that area. Or something. I wasn't really paying attention tongue.gif
