does anyone else but me love this game?

i was talking to missy and syuu the other day about making a party of people you hate, then watching them die.

good times, good times.
i think i'm gonna play it today, in fact. and i'm gonna name people after forumites. we'll see who makes it...but i won't purposely kill anyone..lol.

lmao i can't cause my version doesn't give you points, it gives you acres!
i'm a dork...so yeah...i screen capped the characters i chose..lmao. ya can find them
here.it'll take me awhile to get through it...it's longer than the old version...and yeah if i don't play it all in one day straight, it'll probably take a week. i hope everyone lives...although writing epitaphs could be fun....
oh and when you play and ya pass over the blue mountains, wave hello cause i can see them from my window in the distance.

well you're all still alive!

and hehe @ the McTypo name.

i think lo will live...now that she's back in excellent health. but gah i dunno if we'll reach the wilamette valley before winter. =/ we'll have to up the pace to grueling! well, provided we have filling meals, we should be ok doing that....once lo gets over the infection. i wonder if i did shoot her. hrm. they never do specify with that.

Oregon Trail = Best new IRC pastime
What have we been doing for the last few days? Naming wagon parties after forumites. Mata gets lost constantly, InKy's always sick, and Missy always breaks her arm. Never fails to coax a laugh. =)

Anybody killed me yet?
syuu
Jul 10 2003, 10:59 PM
Nope. Only one dead is Debaser.
You had exhaustion a few times though..

Sounds about right. I'm all overheated and enervated right now.
Still... I demand to be eaten by a bear!

Feh, no bears eat folks in my crappy version. Sorry. ._.

I hope you haven't named anyone after me... I'm far more likely to be sunning it somehwere nice
Mr Fuzzy
Jul 10 2003, 11:07 PM
Curses. Hack the programme to add random bears eating fuzzy people. Do it now!
syuu
Jul 10 2003, 11:09 PM
Okay Okay.. >_>;
There. You were eaten by a.. squirrel..
Mr Fuzzy
Jul 10 2003, 11:12 PM
Oh God no!
Why do squirrels haunt every aspect of my life? Is it karma?
syuu
Jul 10 2003, 11:13 PM
Yes. =(
And for the 6th time, Missy and InKy have drowned together. So touching..yet.. morbid.
Mr Fuzzy
Jul 10 2003, 11:18 PM
You see, thats why the game needs bears. It's tricky to drown after being thoroughly chomped by a bear.
CovertYawn
Jul 10 2003, 11:28 PM
That depends... it could be a defective bear...

or the rest of the places on the trail, for that matter.
and fuzzy, in my version there are bears...and i am afraid to shoot them cause they tend to maul people. if you like i'll name a character after you and go bear hunting...lol.

Eeee!
I have a new version of Oregon Trail!!
4th edition, 3 disc set. Hehe. I think it was made quite awhile ago, cause the system requirements are pretty low (Win 95).
Oh well, my hubby went out to get dishwasher detergent, and came back with this as well cause he saw it and he knows how obsessed I can get with the game

Only drawback so far: You can only have 3 people in the party, including yourself, and you can't name the characters after anyone. But that's okay, I give them my own names anyway.

Right now I am traveling with this adorable young doctor that I have called Aries because he just looks how Aries would have looked in 1848. And a cute lil Cherokee girl that I've decided is Syuu because she also looks how Syuu would have looked in 1848.

Updates on their inevitable deaths will be coming soon.

I used to play that when I was younger... the version I had (and still have, and still play every once in a while) is so outdated that I don't really understand most of what the rest of you are talking about. Wow... you can see your characters now? I'd get a new version if I could afford it.

Awww. Syuu, Aries and I settled in the Willamette Valley about 5 minutes ago. Syuu and I both had scurvy, but we still got 80 acres of land! Yaaay!
Aries was quite the pain. He kept complaining about how if we didn't get in out of the rain, we'd get pneumonia. Silly doctor and his practicality.
Syuu also broke her ankle once. I wish I'd have had PSP open for a screen cap. That was the ugliest foot I've seen. It appeared to be streaked with paint. I'm not sure exactly how paint is related to the breaking of ankles, however.
We also got lost for uh..quite awhile. You have to actually PICK which direction to go at every trail junction on this version. It took me till near the 3rd CD to realize that you can ask your partners for help with directions.
And Antagony, my version was pretty cheap. It was made when Windows 95 was still what most people had, after all. But, for some reason, it just recently got put up in the store where my husband works.

Ahhh, I LOVE OREGON TRAIL!!!! It's so much fun as a stress-reliever!!!! But maybe that's because I have the same intentions as some others...

;; Hehe. Anyways, point being I LOVE OREGON TRAIL!!!! (Even if my version is the earliest form on the planet. xD)

Man, I love that game! But I haven't played it in forever...
Ever play it's much crappier rainforest equivalent, Amazon Trail? With that annoying girl and "What should I do with this?".
However, I shall not allow that to detract from my Oregon Trail experiences. Good game, it is.

I ought to play that game again... I'm easily amused like that.
I wonder if there are any... recent... versions of the game. From like, I dunno less than 5 years ago.

I think there might be, actually.
You'd probably have to look on The Learning Company's website.
If that's even who still makes it. Hmm.
