I like the implication that my musical taste has any bearing on what is going on 'these days'... my favourite new-ish bands are Mew and Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, and you ain't about to see them on TOTP...
BTW, I was so chuffed to hear that my musical monomania has begun to bear fruit. Crazi has been listening to SM and The Jicks, and also cheese has picked up on The Wildhearts! Wewt!
One day you will all bow to my superior musical knowledge, yo...

today i was forced out of my room so i was forced to listen to something very far from normal. it wasnt that awefully boring but it was kinda just novel. i was listening to sweet honey in the rock, for those of you who dont know what that is, its an a capella group of women that sing radically liberial politically based music. its cool, they have a whole song about washington DC voting rights(for those not fimiliar with this issue its that the district hasnt been allowed a vote in the house or senate, which means that although they pay taxes they dont have a vote of who then votes for them in the legislative branch, this means that they have the issue that they pay tax without representation which is why all the distric's liscence plates now have the slogan [reused from the revolution....] "no taxation without representation") the music is very chant like and its really quite odd, which is why i liked it as much as i did. otherwise i may have given up on it and gone away

a song I've been listening to recently is:
Spiritfall - My Reason.
I did a search on WinMX for Linkin Park, and found loads of people had a song I'd never heard of, called 'My Reason'. It didn't sound like Chester singing, so I went to their website to see if I could get any information on it. Nothing. So I googled it, and found loads of sites with the Lyrics for it, but no information. Eventually, at a LP fansite, I found a list of songs that weren't by LP, but were commonly believed to be so. I dont want to worry you LP fans, but I think Spiritfall are actually a lot better. I recommend this song to anyone who likes LP. (Its best to search Kazaa or whatever program you use for Linkin Park - My Reason, rather that Spiritfall).
Also, everyone should listen to AFI. Now.

Ah, yes. I'm listening to it now actually, and it's a good song, but thats definitly not Chester. Besides, it doesn't match LP's usual techno- ish tune ( I use that loosly) Maybe they got it mixed up with 'My December' Or something like that, becasue it doesn't sound the least bit like Chester.

Nooooo... "OK Computer" is a good album, granted, but it's a tad pretentious - plus it hallmarks the descent of the band into that weird introverted Thom Yorke nonsense of "Kid A"... but "The Bends" is the best one. If they stayed on that tack, there'd be no need for Muse...

(PS I actually like Muse.)

Hmmm... prolly why I like it so much, I guess. We shoegazers like that in a band

I dunno, I think Thom Yorke was gettin a little too introverted an weird by the time he got to OK. An as fer Kid A, it's one of the least accessible albums I ever heard!
I just got Amnesiac, which from what I've heard is a lot better...

to be honest, i think i'm the only person in the entire world who can listen to kid a without pulling a face. sure, it took a while to get into, but it's still a great album...
as for amnesiac, it's basically the more friendly out-takes from kid a...so it's similar, but a bit less "aaaaagh"...

I guess yer prolly right there!!
There's no hooks, an ya can't shoegaze to it... I mean, I like weird (I was listenin to the Cocteaus the other day,
par exemple) but I found Kid A to be quite grating...
