Doors--Roadhouse Blues

Ahhhhh it has been a long time since I have listened to the Doors. My house smells like chocolate cake baking, and the Doors are on. Life is good.

The last thing I have been listening to is myself, murdering the following songs on the guitar:

Coldplay - Things I Don't Understand (a wonderful b-side)
Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars
Michael Jackson - Beat It (albeit a slowler, more ballad-y rendition)
Tears For Fears - Mad World

plus one song I have half-written myself.

All in all, an interesting experience for my neighbours

Can I come to your house? Crying to Jimmy Eat World whilst on your own in Paris seems far less appealing when I know that there are The Doors and chocolate cake to be had elsewhere.

International flights are no big deal. Come on over!

I am in the freezing library and I am listening to the audiobook version of Black Boy by Richard Wright. It is too long by half.

I would very much like to, if only to get away from the INCESSANT DRILLING going on in the street. I miss the lack of cars, the birdsong and the clip-clop of horse hooves.

I am not a city girl.

I have been listening to King Creosote because he is ace. He's like a Scottish Badly Drawn Boy.

Camera Obscura is a good Scottish band.

I am listening to Date With the Night-Yeah Yeah Yeahs because Jesus on a peanut butter cross I have so much work to do.

I've been listening to 'Chasing Cars' by Snow Patrol, again, all day long. I had some awful news today and the song already brings tears to my eyes, so I was practically waterfalling.

I am newly obsessed with This American Life and have been listening at my computer for the last hour or so.

You're a Debussy fan?! We must discuss him! I am so excited. I am far too obsessed. I think I love you.

I have also been listening to Debussy today. Infact, I have listened to his complete piano works today. And Prélude de l'apres-midi d'un faun. It is so unimagineably beautiful. I cannot comprehend it. And then I listened to Demon Denco (sp?) play Haydn's Andante Variations with f minor.

I am a Debussy fan in the sense that I have that as an MP3 and sat in my room with the lights all off and the windows fully open, looking across the rooftops of Paris listening to Clair De Lune on repeat.
I am not a Debussy fan in the sense that I only know that one, and not the names of others. Although when my friend plays the piano, I always ask her to play Debussy as all of his stuff is just so awesome.

I like Linger, but Zombie is my favourite Cranberries song. Right now I'm listening to Theme Songs by One Way Letter.

I heard the new My Chemical Romance song today. I'm not sure what I think of it. I don't think they'll ever return to the wonder that was their debut album, but this song - Welcome to the Black Parade - is better than I thought it might be.
