I know of HMHB
Good to hear it, Sir!
I think I may have to explore further, certainly. The EP I bought is pure gold, I tells you...
Furthermore, it turns out that the Bright Eyes album I bought is chuffing amazing! I'm on a roll, kids...

Scary Bitches - Piss All Over Your Grave
If anyone has heard of them, come down to London and I'll buy you a drink. Really. More people should know about them.
I hope you die young
I hope you die in pain
I hope you die alone in the pouring rain
I hope you die cold and empty inside
Send you to hell on the other side
I hope you die young
I hope you die in pain
I hope you die alone and half insane
And I hope that I'm still alive
So I can dance and sing and piss all over your grave
Oh yes.

bright eyes...how unexpectedly emo of you, inky

me...i'm stuck in the "never-ending darkness/sfa look of infinite doom"...or i would be, if those albums weren't so great...
also, the new single by the libertines, "don't look back into the sun"...better then all of their other songs put together...

MEh. I downloaded a few Bright Eyes songs. They're a bit like popcorn. You forget about them as soon as they're done. Actually I forgot one was playing while it was playing. Then there was a silence and I thought "Oh. The song is over....um...when did it end?"
That's how much impression Bright Eyes left on me. Ah well. suppose it's just not me.

Goddess, I would DIE to have made a second copy of that CD I made for you. True musical brilliance if ever I had it!

Meanwhile, I'm in kind of an electro funky mood. Something like Kylie Minogue or Funkstar De Luxe. Basically I want to shake it, I want to look good when I shake it, and I want some pepper to be shaking it with me, ya dig?

I'm allowed to have levels, cheeky...

And, no, Jaq, they're not for everyone. Just people who have musical taste...

Anywho, I've been listening to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds tonight - namely 'No More Shall We Part', which I grabbed for a fiver from the luvverly Music Zone.
Quality in albumage, it is.
Later, I may change over to NCatBS's 'From Her To Eternity', or, if I don't fancy slitting my wrists, some Pavement. Hurrah for options!

Oh man the Bad Seeds rule so much. Saw 'em live not long ago, bloody brilliant they were. Actually, I think I'll stick on
Do You Love Me? Now that is quality music. Oh yes.

They had a shedload of their albums for £5 a pop in Music Zone, so I relieved them of a couple...
Always meant to get into them - I adore Cave's voice. Got any reccommendations for future BS purchases?

There's a Best Of I'd strongly recommend, and his new album Nocturama is pretty damn good, a fair bit heavier than most any of his other stuff. It also has the wonderful Babe, I'm On Fire, which is a fifteen-minute long rant, and he deserves major props for including the words "menstruating Jewess", and for rhyming "laughing hyena" with "homesick Polish cleaner" on it.

Interesting... HMHB fans creeping out of the woodwork now...

I've got the ol' Bright Eyes on again. I suppose I've been a tad emo recently... Still, I plan to remedy that later with some Calexico. Mebbe some more Pavement.
Oh, who am I kidding? I'll end up listening to this album again, watching the bleak hillsides whistle past the train window like so many lost weeks...

Continue to do so. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. Like a shot of vodka on a cold day.
Brings me one step closer to completing my Official Sisters Collection (I still haven't bought

Ah, now "Lucretia My Reflection" was the first one o theirs I heard, so I went out an got "Floodlands", which was pretty good... I understand they were great live, but I never got to see 'em, sadly. Tell ya what, though, if I remember next time in Manchester I'll go have a mosey round Afflecks Palace an see if they have one in there. (I got a Cure acoustic bootleg there once...) If I manage, I'll cut ya a CD or summat.

That'd be lovely of you. You should go see 'em, I saw them in April at the Forum, great stuff. They'll be around next year, Happy Andy has to tour every year or he might run out of money, forcing him to - shock! horror! - make another album.

Aug 24 2003, 06:20 PM
Couldn't say, mate. Couldn't swear to it actually being him, come to that. They're staying true to the Sisters policy of using so much f--king dry ice I could barely make out that there was actually a band playing. He's still blond, with the good old must-look-as-un-goth-as-possible-to-try-and-hide-the-fact-that-the-Sisters-are-goth-and-cover-up-Patricia-Morrison-being-in-my-band look. They played Lucretia, and a bunch of other classics - Temple of Love, Vision Thing and Marian all put in an appearance. Despite the wankerage of Eldritch himself, it's still a top show and I'll be going again.
leopold
Aug 24 2003, 06:48 PM
Yanno, it makes me laugh that Andy almost wasn't in the band after they replaced his dubious drumming skills with a machine!
I wish he'd just grow up about the goth thing, though... I mean, when was he big? 1987. What else was big then? Goth. Where do they get played these days? Goth clubs! Who do other goth bands like Clan of Xymox use as an influence?? Yep, the Sisters. Honestly, the only person he's tryin to kid is himself. Marian and Lucretia are goth classics, for heavens sake! Gaaaahhhh!!!!!
Oh, back on topic.... "Back Again in the DHSS" is on now...
CommieBastard
Aug 24 2003, 06:50 PM
Plus the whole Floodland album is IMO the gothest thing to come out of the 80s.

But of course!! No self-respectin 80's goth is without that particular chestnut!
See yer stayin with the goth theme there, too. Me? I've moved on from the abject Scouse silliness of HMHB, and onto the more introspective shoegazey Leeds noise of the Wedding Present - "George Best". Some of their finest work, and some of the Gedgemeisters best (and funniest) lyrics.
