They might be Giants

and something else that I don't remember....it was in the wee hours of the morning so I can be forgiven.
Oh! I remember! Bob and Doug Mackenzie. heh heh. And Sam Roberts, and Modest Mouse and Mathew Good.
Oh, looking at InKy's post makes me want to get out my Pink Floyd

Isaac Brocks lyrics are beautiful, I love to delve into some of their albums when I'm feeling down.
I read something about how the Moon and Antarctica was inspired by this guy who broke into one of their shows, gave them a notebook filled with ramblings and then left.

Sep 2 2003, 02:33 PM
Yeah I read that too, although I think Isaac still did quite a lot of it. Anyhoo tis easily their best album, The stars are projectors is one of my favourite songs ever.
<edit> I've noticed that the few Modest mouse fans I've spoken to are almost obsessive about the band (as am I...). You don't get much middle ground with them. </edit>
everyone wants a double feature, they wanna be their own damn teacher.
Yeah. Those who like it, like it alot. Those who just don't like it don't really despise it so much as they're confused by it.
I've been a kind of Modest Mouse evangelist. Convert heathens!

Feel the sweat break on my brow
Is it me or is it shadows that are dancing on the walls
Is this a dream or is it now
Is this a vision or normality I see before my eyes
I wonder why I wonder how
That it seems the powers getting stronger every day
I feel a strength an inner fire
But I'm scared I won't be able to control it anymore
There's a time to live and a time to die
When it's time to meet the maker
There's a time to live but isn't it strange
That as soon as you're born you're dying
Just by looking through your eyes
He could see the future penetrating right in through your mind
See the truth and see your lies
But for all his power couldn't foresee his own demise
There's a time to live and a time to die
When it's time to meet the maker
There's a time to live but isn't it strange
That as soon as you're born you're dying
... And be reborn again?

right ... I am a musik freek who has been living in a catholic/fascist lowest-common-denominator almost-the-inventors-of-hello-magazine country for the past twenty four years. I am therefore totally and utterly unplugged from anything like new music, unless its sprayed i corporate shite varnish. In fact I just gave up trying to follow in about 1985, and went off on a few tangents musically. I have NO HOPE of following any of this thread ('cept the Thin Lizzy bit). I also have to decide between downloading random bands as discovered here, or sharing with my wife the burden of true love and bringing up a child.
I hereby commit myself to posting regularly on here, just so I can read the thread and recognize some stuff. Call me the golden piggin' oldie ...
Right now, Chicuelo , very raunchy flamenco guitar, and Steve Vai, Passion and Warfare is in the queue ...

I've been listening mostly to the fat wad of CDs that Debs presented to me at the meet - and what CDs!
I've been taking them two at a time. Sunday was dedicated to The Darkness and SFA ('Rings Around The World' - my collection is now complete...). Yesterday was Electric Six and the Raveonettes double-feature (putting 'Whip It On' and 'Chain Gang Of Love' on the same CD was inspired, sir!). Today will later be the turn of the Polyphonic Spree, methinks - both 'The Beginning Stages Of...' and 'The Extended Stages Of...'
But only after I've listened to the Darkness a few more time...
Get your hands offa my wuuhh-uuh-muuhn, muuuhh-thuuh-fuuhhh-kuuu-uuuh-uuuh-aaaaahh
