dude, someone tell me that they agree with me here-i'm a strong believer of animal rights, and I already be a member of two protest groups (one of which is glorious, because i was able to egg Tony Blairs car and not get nicked biggrin.gif )

but the new RSPCA adverts are pushing it too far-their adverts used to pull your heartstrings, and provoke you to donate money-and in many cases it worked, including on me.However, their new methods of showing dead kittens on their TV addy's,and also a new dead kitten with head injurys wrapped in a clear bag is making an appearance on their flyers-this doesn't do anything to me,other than make me wretch and cry.
leopold
Actually, I agree too... there's summat about seein that poor dead kitten on the TV that makes me feel ill.

But then I guess that's the point. Provoke a reaction out of us apathetic couch potatoes, make us do summat about it. It's the same deal wi the cancer ads, showin kids... Oh, an that new NSPCC one wi the baby...

As a homeowner, I also get shedloads of stuff through the door sayin "Sorry for the unusual approach, give us money!" I always thought charity was meant to be voluntary, an yet it feels like we're bein bombarded with requests for help from these people.

I guess there's summat very wrong goin on when charities feel the need to go so far...

I think if you believe in a cause then it shouldnt really matter what there advertising is or isnt. I donate to the SPCA every month yet I have no idea what they advertise these days.

I find a problem with how many charity's come around now. I must get like 7 phone calls a week and 5 panphlets from a bunch of charitys that all sound the same. I dont see why they all have to be seperate, just mold some of them together, makes things easier for us.
Skiz
Ive not seen that commercial but I don't agree with shock tactics to try and get donations. It like the anti-abortion campaigners with dead baby pictures. I think it is wrong.

showing a dead kitten is going a little far dont you think ?. I hate anyone who abuses or mistreats animals but showing a dead kitten honestly that discust me. I am sure they never ment to offend or to upset anyone by doing that commericail and to be honest that is truth in its rawest form and weather or not we think it is right to show it, it is the brutal truth. As sick and as twisted as it is. It kinda makes you feel sick to your stomach to think your fellow man is capeable of something like that

That type of promotion so people will support the SPCA is really F*cked...

That is not the right way to make people want to support it, in fact what they are doing is makign people get upset and that can push people away. Those kinda pics can also sometimes scar you for the rest of your bloody life. I swear if I ever meet the idiot who devised this supposed 'genius plan' I'll not only shove the pictures in this two-timing face but introduce him to my foot...

Now, i can understand their hour promotional shows they have on during the day that talks about cats and dogs being abused and the humane society saving their lives, and talking about how they need support to continue what they do best...but that seems to be too warped for even anyone. Like how would others like it if they showed a decapitated course of one of their loves ones on television for the whole world to see...then they would think twice.

Ok, what they SHOULD of done was maybe put a stray kitten in an alley and the message "Let's help them get off the street" I think that is more of a encouraging message that can strive a person to think "Hey, that is a great idea, im gonna go call them up."

This thing has gotten me incredably peeved. My passionate anger towards this stupid act the people did to advertise just..It is hard to describe how I can really feel. Like Simply, I feel very strongly against animal cruelity, that is why tomorrow I am starting my 80 hour volunteer work at the brantford humane society...mayeb then I can make a difference...sort of.

There's my 2 cents.

I want to send money to the dead kitties.. poor kitties... if we al send enogh they will be able to bring them back to life.. modern science can do anything right??? poor poor kitties

The whole point of advertising is to get ppl to buy stuff or send money.. so therefore they can put whatever they want on comercials cuz that's the point... hmm vive le pomme de terre

i reckon they should do that now-imagine how they'd like to see thier relatives and loved ones massacred, and know that they were just using their suffering to market their product.f******g assholes.

dude-forgive me if i'm wrong-but that post seriously sounds like your taking the piss here.this is a serious subject which concerns a lot of us,and i for one find your apparent humour inappropriate.

*i would just like to say that has to be THE MOST intellectual and serious sounding post i've made to date-whoah,i scare myself!!!!!!!!!*
sadistickitty
i suppose it would be terrible if there were no ad's, but they do go a little to far

ooooh! and that reminds me of something a little irrelevant...all the cancer ad's we get nowadays, it kinda means that cancer is becoming more and more common, and its not as big a shock....seems as if the more hi-tech and "smarter" we get, the more sick we get....ive only had antibiotics twice in my life, cos my fam believe in older techniques

Where I live there has never been any ads for the SPCA but I also haven't heard of the SPCA wanting for anything. In high school nearly every kid either has to work "volunteer" at the SPCA or the old folks home for a certain amount of hours and I think that working there is a much better advertisement for the shelter than showing pictures of dead and mutilated animals. That's just sick.
oobunnie
I agree that pictures of dead cats is a little much, but some times it takes alot to get things through to people. Not just for donations, but also for animal abuse (and basically why we should stand strongly against it.), and to promote spaying/neutering your animal.

On a happy note I baught myself a 6 month old kitty from the SPCA a couple of days ago. Cutest thing ever, he kind looks like a little bobcat with a long tail. And I named him Nacho. yup. I loves him like crazy

I gets all my kitties from the Heydon Wood Green Animal Shelter, just down tha road from me.I've nicked three from there now!

Me and my mum do this kind of Kitty Rehabilitation thingy, where we rehabilitate drugged up kitties and stoner-dogs................... dry.gif lol ummmmmmmmm NO what we do is if we find a stray animal anywhere,we take it home, check its stray, feed it up,take it to the vets to get it scanned for a chip and flea dipped, then take it to the Animal Shelter for re-homing-it's kind of my attempt at getting into God's good books i guess! rolleyes.gif
Edward_lover1200
one sad thing is there has been cat mutalations right around here where I live in Salt Lake..I live in Midvale but it's till pretty close sad.gif unsure.gif I dont like it..It scares me...
simply,I'm a spastic
what exactly do you mean by cat "mutilations"

*is really not sure whether she wants to know the answer- blink.gif *

I do the thing of taking stray pets in and fixin them up to happy.gif
Our city is pretty good about animal abuse. I remember there was this one guy that got charged for tying a dog to a tree and abusing him. and when he only got a $500 fine for it a bunch of people from our city kinda went and umm smashed bits of his house, I think one person jumped they guy at one point. Anyways we take it very seriously here.

I love the name Nacho. I would post a pic. But I havent got him. I gotta go to the vet and pick him up in a couple of hours
simply,I'm a spastic
is Nacho ok? huh.gif

I want to live in your city!in england all that happens is they get about 6 months in prison then they get out and bloody do it again-its terrible.
oobunnie
Nacho has a respritory infection, so the vet wanted to keep him over night to inject anti-biotics and keep an eye on his temp. but I called this morning and he's doing really well smile.gif (in fact the people dropped him off at the spca because he was sick. some people are soo...grrrr.) But hey now I have him smile.gif .

yeah they dont get jail for doing anything to pets here, but on the same note the law seems to turn its eye from those who wish to make up for it.
