I have a friend who hates alcohol and marijuana. She yells at me sometimes for drinking and smoking. I agree with her now on the drinking, but not the smoking. What really gets me is after she yells at me, she turns around and shoots up. It really upsets me. My brother Tim's real dad (he's adopted) almost ODed on heroin and he hates it with a passion. I love my friend dearly and I don't like to see her get hurt, not like that. I know that her life is hers to live just as my life is mine, but she deserves better than this. (sigh) What are you guys' thoughts on this?

Heh... that reminds me of that woman in "Airplane!", who sneers at the bloke offerin her a shot of whisky, an then snorts some cocaine! No, that's not an irrelevant post... it's jus that there, we laugh at the utter hypocrisy of the situation. I laugh at the hypocrisy here, too.

Righteous, I really can't say what to do, as I've never been unlucky enough to have a friend wreck their lives over a drug like this... Have ya tried yellin back at her when she shoots up? If she says anythin, ya could jus tell her that it's payback fer all the shoutin she does... I dunno, I dun think it'll help any, but she might stop havin a go at ya about yer substantially less life-theatenin activities.

If she's addicted, then there's prolly nowt ya can do anyway. She needs to do that fer herself. All ya can really do is be there an try an help her when she falls...

I know of a guy, he was going the worng way with heroin, lost his family, his job, his car and his house because of it and would probably be dead now if it wasn't for one of his mates who essentially kidnapped him and locked him in a room for 6 months, anyone who took him out had to sign an agreement that they'd look after him and make sure he didn't disappear to go find some of his old mates, probably not exactly the right thing to do but it worked.....

I look at it like this: Heroin can kill you very easily. I'd have to eat like a pound of weed to die from it. Heroin can also do irrepairable damage even in small doses. I'd have to smoke like three joints a day for years to be severely effected by it. That's what makes the difference. That's why I'm worried.
