Pab
hi peeps,

My av is flash movie of some size. Although Flash is supposed to stream, therefore downloading after other avs, and hopefully not getting in the way, it is still possible that my av makes navigating this place an utter nightmare ofr some people. Win ME is dead, bot not buried, after all (this accounts for that smell btw)...

SO if ANYBODY has ANY practical objections to my flash avs, please say so here and I shall make ammends ... (accept debs, who just wont admit to the greatness of Pearl Jam)

cheers
Mata
Interesting, I'd never thought of putting a Flash animation as an avatar.

It might cause issues for people with dial-up connections (there are people like that out there right... WeeJ for a start has a very slow connection).

Thats a thought, my signature banner is around the 4-500k mark....i'm guessing that's probably too big but no one's complained so far cool.gif

I have no problems. Occasionally it's slow but I'm accessing it at work and it's usually lunchtime or just after work at 5pm. I imagine I won't experience any problems as I'm on ISDN or broadband or something like that. I have no idea! I'm such an computer retard sometimes sad.gif

When I had dial-up, my connection was slower than molasses in January..and I never had a problem with your avs, Pablito. smile.gif

(Of course, now I'm on DSL...vrrooooommmmmm!!!! hehehehe).

I don't know about your banner though, SPS, because you just recently got it, so I haven't been able to see it on dial up.

my home connection is dial up 45K... no av's give me any problems.. the page loads before them anyway.. so I would think it should be fine.

k, mata ... as much as that is almost a constructive objection, it is in fact not formulated as one and so the av stays until i get an actual objection, or you specifically tell me to get rid of it ( including the word 'hovercraft' in the text )

The stats are so far interesting, not to mention surprising ...

*Another person with dial-up here* I've never had any problems with your avs.... smile.gif They are cute!

Speaking of avatars, I will be grateful for a fair while (ie. until next time I forget it) to WeeJ for reminding me of the word 'globbits'!

Time to update my sig I think...

Ahem.

Firstly, the word is spelt "besmirch".

Secondly, I believe that in the common use of the term one cannot besmirch a person. Possibly, Barry is besmirching Jennie's honour. Or her reputation.

"Thou hast besmirched my honour! Have at you, knave!"

Ok, I'm on a crappy 56k aol connection, and I don't have any major problems with any of the avs in particular. There are some that I wish people would properly resize though, intead of letting the auto-resizer shrink it dows, they do take a little longer to load. I can't think of who's does that off hand, though.
acidteardrop
very rarely some AVs wont load or anything, and the page freezes. but i think this is more my wireless DSL getting interrupted. no complaints here.
Sir Maxerpopple
Many AV's dont load forme at all. Any way around this?
