ah yes. 'muslims worship the moon god'

(so sad. really, it is. 'modern form of the ancient religion'? maybe they share SOME things in common, but allah is simply the arabic word for the god of the jews and christians). 'gays are evil'. 'witches are evil. not only that, but they are nothing compared to the power of jesus. (you should read that comic. seriously)'. the list goes on. i'm tempted to think that site's a joke, but i doubt it. it's sort of pathetic that people steadfastly warp and twist all facts simply to maintain their beliefs that everyone EXCEPT them are evil perverts that are going to hell (catholics included)

Wow. I just read that homosexual tract. What a load of crap.
1, It's trying to apply laws that were made more than 2000 years ago in an entirely different society to today's society.
2, I've never heard anyone say that they want to poison the blood supply or try to convince other people to poison the blood supply
3,the Bible doesn't make it clear what the sins of the people of Sodom were. Some biblical scholars think that their sins may have been inhospitality or trying to have sex with angels, both which were very bad sins.
4 Where does it say anywhere in the Bible that the people of Sodom were molesting children?
5. Since when is the international, transhistorical uniform of gay people studded leather?

on a lighter note: i am part christian, part buddhist, part pagan ( i know, seems undoable, but i'm working it all out)...
my first language is quaker, so i don't understand why it all isn't like the following, i mean if someone in sodom had simply been more socratic about the whole thing:
Quakers do not have written codes of behaviour or rules. However, we do have ways of thinking about things and of trying to find out what God requires of us. You will not find a rule saying "It is forbidden for Quakers to look at pornography or to read certain kinds of newspaper", but you will find our Advices and Queries which gently challenge us to live in a more loving, caring, non-violent, non-exploitative way. For example:
"Consider which of the ways to happiness offered by society are truly fulfilling and which are potentially corrupting and destructive. Be discriminating when choosing means of entertainment and information ... "
"... Are you working to bring about a just and compassionate society which allows everyone to develop their capacities ...?"
"Bring into God's light those emotions, attitudes and prejudices in yourself which lie at the root of destructive conflict, acknowledging your need for forgiveness and grace."
yeah... its your own decision and you dont have the right to do anything but ask others to question their beliefs. you can't make someone else believe what you believe... you can only help them figure out what kind of person they want to be...
dont force your opinions on others! grr.... *gets mad at evangelicals*

Are you saying you believe that link you provided was a joke? Doesn't seem like one to me. Their remarks to people's feedback and stuff. There is so much wrong with it, I can't even begin to argue against it without taking up too much time, for I've already been on here too ling already. Just plain awful. It amazes me that some people still think like that. Maybe we haven't gotten as far as we'd lie to think in the past few centuries. If anyone hasn't seen the stuff in the link posted by gerbilfromhell, you really should. It's a load of shit. After reading some of the replies to people's feedback, I couldn't even read antmore b/c it was pissing me off to much.
Notice all the replies (or most of them) are making fun of grammer/spelling errors. Another person giving feedback was yelling, using all caps and the guy replying saying "If you were a
white person, the retailer would have sold you a keyboard with a "Caps Lock" key that functions properly. I know it isn't nice being of an inferior race, but don't be bitter." Ugh! What f***ing b****!
Then someone gave feedback saying "I've gone so far as waking up in the middle of the night to find pictures of Mr. Pitt cut out from magazines in the bed next to me, my shorts filled with semen, and an aching pain in my anus. I'm sure you can imagine what I've been possessed to do in my sleep because of this man. And I am certainly not a homosexual either. Please tell me what I can do to stop this. I don't want to enter therapy over this, not because I can't afford it, I certainly can as I am a successful consultant here in the States, but because I'm embarrassed to voice my problem to anyone! Please help me. I'm about at the end of my rope over this evil Mr. Pitt." the guy replies saying "I know you're not a homosexual, most of the world knows you're not a homosexual. But Brad Pitt's evil must be exposed. That's why we have published your name on the world wide web and made your address and telephone number available to all our members." OMG! Some guy is either messing with the internet dudes or won't admit he's gay and is cutting out pics of Brad Pitt and masturbating/having wet dreams in his sleeP! Then saying he's being possessed!! Okay...sick of ranting...I'm done.

About the Chick tract:
"Brothers, this isn't right! Take my virgin daughters instead!"
Yeah. Real damn noble of you...
*sigh*
About the original link:
[sarcasm]Poor little elephant. Doesn't even know how many gods he has...despite the fact he has probably been raised his whole life learning Hinduism and knows pretty well how many there are and their names as well.[/sarcasm]
*sighs again*
Some religion would taste better if not shoved down the throat forcefully and then washed down with a bottle of self-righteousness. In reality, those tracts probably turn more people away from Christ than towards him.
gerbilfromhell
Nov 19 2003, 02:22 AM
most people don't know that many (if not most) sects of hinduism are as monotheistic as christianity (although many people believe that to be polytheistic). there's the 'all-encompassing-entity/creator' brahma. then there's his three CHARICARISTICS (remind you of the holy trinity, anyone?) bramin, the creator. vishnu, the perserver. and shiva, the destroyer (of evil, not people)
"Are you saying you believe that link you provided was a joke? Doesn't seem like one to me."
and THAT is why many people think the origional site is for real. click on the 'send us an e-mail' link. then click on the link at the bottom (i think) of that page to send them an e-mail. it actually SAYS 'this is a joke. it is satire. the BCC does not exist'

''Hey, Habu...
How many gods do you have?
''I don't know, I've lost count!'' ''
Oh, hahahaha. That's hilarious....those evil, Hitler-esqe b**tards.
And as for the their ''information'' on atheists:
''Bah! I don't believe in anything! I'm staying home on Sunday!''
Screw that. Atheists are'nt grumpy shut-ins. They have lives, and are'nt going to slaughter your children because they believe in what they want. In fact, it seems becuase of this brainwashing garbage it's the other way around....
I severly pity the children who will get this shoved down their throats by their Bible-obsessed parents. They could have been such nice people, but now they'll grow up to hate everyone of other religions.....it makes me depressed to think how nice these people could have been....

I can't see the link either. How odd.
It does sound like that first one is indeed a hoax, but from what I can gather from other people's comments I guess it shows how bad Christianity's reputation has become in that many people believed it to be real.
It's a pity. Christianity really does have some great basic ethics, it just seems that many people get carried away and want to interpret them for everyone else.
The Chick Tracts... I encountered them in 1999 when I performed with a circus group at the Burning Man festival and someone put the one about Sodom into the hat that was passed around after the performance. Unfortunately, unless they are an immensely complex hoax, they are absolutely real and truly awful in the messages of hate and fear they convey.
Faith should never be about these emotions but for some reason a minority of people always seem to turn religions into that.

I never read the Chick Tracts until Mata linked me .. and .. ew.
It's very depressing to see that people would put so much work and art into something so counterproductive as a cruel hate message, and one that makes me want to choke and die too. I guess some people just fear what is different than their lifestyle, and have no better way to convey said fear than deticate their time, patience, and artistic talent to biggotry. It's ignorant and sad, and if there is a Jesus or a God or what all the christian religion conveys, I sincerely hope it goes and saves them from being so godawful stupid.
Must be a hard way to go through life, so angry at people for loving who they feel comfortable loving.

The first Chick Tracks link had a grand total of three things right:
1) God loves homosexuals.
2) Anyone can be saved throughJesus Christ.
3) The sinner's prayer's legit.
That's about it. You guys know how I feel about said subject.
The second is a cute story I guess. If you were to take out the whole "going to Hell" business that away from which we Methodists like to stay, it would have ben a nice story to tell my little sister. The religeous pamphlet I got trick-or-treating growing up were miserable, espcially when they didn't give you candy to go with it. Eh, well. They were better than Mounds bars.
My brother Rick and some of my friends get them at their job at DQ sometimes. My friend Matt has a few he likes to laugh at.
And what atheist movement? Last time I checked, there was no one telling me I should be an atheist and I'm not uncomfortable witnessing to an atheist. In my experience, he haven't ben evil nor have they attempted to stray me from the pah of God. Bastards.

the sad thing about those chick "comic" strips.. is that when i was being forced to go to church, on halloween, i would be forced to trick or treat at a church (screwy, huh?) and they would give those comics to the kids... man, those things scared the hell out of us... i mean, at that point, i had already givin up on christianity, but man, that assured it...

actually, this sight
might (VERY doubtful though) be real. the only reason i'm considering changing my mind is the 'haloween' page. see, in that page are links to various websites. i clicked on the 'scripture candy' one (to see if it was a real website. if the link led nowhere, that'd be a reason to think the site's a joke) it DID lead me to a site. a relativelly large site for a few people with a lot of free time to make. i just don't think someone would actually make who-knows how many big sub-sites for a big joke. then again, some people have a LOT of free time.
