Me and a couple other formites have noticed that sum people are getting a little more..agressive with their opinions. They are continualy pushing their opinions on us.. i mean, i can understand if it is a debate, but being ignorant and inconsiderate of others is NOT right. This is a very hard time for us all. We need to be a family, like we are ment to be. PLease everyone, listen to eachother and stop fighting. I dont think anyone can handle it right now....
THANKX

I don't see open fighting, witht the execption of a few flame wars. In a debate, when people get passionate, it is most likely someone will get offended, the trick is to have passion whilst not going over the top. Personally I can take it, and you shouldn't be too offended by what someone over the internet tells you. Alot of people act like jerks because there are no consequences to their actions. But if you are feeling upset because someone is a little too spiteful when disproving one of your points, that's a bad thing.

I try my best not to get aggressive with the things I'm passionate about. I know things can get pretty heated when talks of religeon and anarchy come up. If I do get aggressive or offensive (more than usual) then please someone let me know. I won't take it personally or offensively. You guys are my family and critisism from my family is, for the most part, constructive that is, unless you're just being a complete asshole).

im not saying anyone in perticular is being agressive, im just stating something that has been bothering me. Being passionate about something is awsome, go for it, but forcing your opinion on someone is just f**ked.

What did Logicman do to get booted out? Like, I know why JJay got booted, but I still don't know the story behind Logic's expulsion.

Altough I didn't see it, I'm pretty sure logic got in a big fight when he got too serious about a thread on mimes, then he began argueing with everyone about everything and it got to the point where mata had no other choice

I am not going to pretend I am anything other than a pro-capitalist , anti-socialist right winger (who is very proud of the United States.). That is just who I am and what i believe in. But I am not going to go around shoving it down anyone's throat either. (and yes i know there are alot of people out there *particularly in this forum* who disagree with me. I am not interested in an argument about politics really. You believe what you think is right and I will believe what I think is right.

).
In real-life i seldom discuss politics unless I am with someone I know who shares my views pretty closely. It is a very volatile issue and I really don't think it is a very productive thing to argue about.
I am not afraid to mention what I believe in but I am not going to get into pointless and brutal arguments about it either (except on rare occasions when I lose my cool

).
People believe what they want to believe. And no two people usually think exactly the same. Simply stating one's beliefs is not really shoving it down anyone's throat....ie. expecting everyone to change their own ideas.

ok either way...
I agree with the whole a little too agressive thing...we all should simmer down and learn to exept each others belifes no matter how much you disagree...enless this person like strongly belives in sacrificing virgens to their god then learn to be flexable...
all I'm saying is as long as they are threatneing or stateing that they have or will harm some one...then be exepting

umm... i hate to be horribly ironic and sound too agressive, but this IS a thread in issues. i mean, no thread should be spammed unless that's what it's meant for, but seriously, i'd rather issues not end up like daft, where you have to wade through a sea of spam to find something postable.
but back on topic: there are just some topics that set people off. (different people by different topics, obviously) i mean, there's really not much anyone can do about it. it's just who we are, right?

I'm going to be too aggressive and agree.
When you start shamelessly spamming issues of all forums, it gets to be a bit much.
As for everyone else being this way, I don't know. Everyone's going to have their own opinions and enforce them with all the decency they can muster here. Really, the only rule aside from the logical ones put in place has been the not being too stubborn rule. So just try not to take everything here as a personal attack, state your opinions eloquently while keeping an open mind, and everything will be just fine. Remember to take personal debates that single out one person into PMs, though.
I'd say that sums it up.
Oh, and Kevin was banned because he was being a complete ass and terrorizing everyone with constant tactless displays. Has he changed? Dunno'. I really hope so.

The topic of this thread isn't much of an 'issue'. It was more of a request.
In all truth it is not very 'debatable'. I suppose that is why it got off topic.

Dec 1 2003, 02:24 AM
i've gotta disagree with you there. this topic is, at least to me, definitelly an issue. i mean, it's also a request to cool down the posts, but it's also a thread dealing with the issue with agressiveness on this forum (and really, it'll obviously turn into agressiveness in general. which isn't really off topic, in a sense). regardless, this thread was posted in issues and it wasn't moved (not that i think it should be), and issues threads have a sort of 'sacrosanct-ness' (i don't really know how to say it in english. it's a latin word literally meaning 'untouchable-ness' or something. it was origionally used to apply to high officials in rome (if a pleb touched a tribune without his permission, the pleb was killed on the spot), but it applies to these threads though. they have a certain unspoken rule of 'no spamming' behind them. so, they're sort of sacrosanct from spam. well, they're obviously not, but they're supposed to be). and anyways, the unspoken spam rule really applies to any threads not MEANT to be spammed in.

ditto on the whole not spaming a issues thread...some of us dont like to read spam enless it should be there like in daft...and even daft has some limits...and when people spam up a thread and irritate the non spammy people it can make some people agressive...
man the human race is fun to study...it's intrasting how little things can make everything go in a circle...like for instence...we said "be less agressive" (aka dont flame...) and so we didn't...and we started spaming insted of just stating our belifes and it causes some to get angry and then get agressive...no where near flaming...but still agressive...and their in a thread about being less agressive...wow...makes my brain hurt...I'm gonna go lie down..

for one.. Zesty and Sir, pelase dont spam an issue.. adn yes it is an issue and also a request.. yes i was requestion that people try not ot bitchh at others.. but still, begin agressive is not always a good thing. Assertive and agressive are 2 different things... u can be pleasently assertive without beign agressive... its like... *scenerio*
your in a cafe and the waitress is ignoring you
agressive: walking up to her and yelling at her, demanding service
pleasently assertive: walking up to her, and stating that u have been waiting for a while and would like to be served
see? difference...
