The ad for the new Mortal Kombat- Deception game is really good. It's got people who look like people but they aren't really people but fighting machines.

Im very very tired... rolleyes.gif

My all-time British advert is the Pot Noodle advert.

For Americans and their natural enemies to the north, Pot Noodle is a meal that comes in a big plastic cup. You add boiling water, leave it for a while, and it becomes what seems on the surface to be simply a tasty noodle meal, but in actual fact is the very ambrosia of some unhealthy God.

I can't find it on the net, so I'll write a transcript.

Sometime's Commie i don't think you try hard enough. wink.gif

http://www.absolutelyandy.com/tvadverts/

At the middle/bottom is the Pot Noodle advert. You need to save it to your hard drive to watch (not checked it so virus scan). There is also a load of great UK adverts there some of the Dime bar one's with Harry Enfield are my favorites.

/Edit ok just realised how old this thread is .................Commie your still not forgiven. tongue.gif

The words to the Crestor commercial are stuck in my head..
"What's this? I'm still in the land of NO?" AAAAHG!

'ARMADILLO!! Crunchy on the outside, smooth in the middle! AR - MA - DILLO!!'

*must be said in a broad country accent*

That advert was great. *giggles like a girlie* laugh.gif
Smiler
OMG the AR - MA - DILLO!! were so cool!!!!! Everyone was yelling it at everybody else!

ARRRR MA DILLLLO!!
talking to faeries
I hate the injury finance adverts, especially the one where the man who fits burgular alarms falls off his ladder (his excuse being "I was given the wrong type of ladder") and he's given like £5,000 compensation. While the only 'accident' that seems remotely accidental in these adverts is the woman who has a car crash, but she's only given £1,000. Very odd. Yeah, basically any compensation or injury lawyers adverts annoy me dry.gif
El Nino
The Jolly Cola commercials were cool
monosodiumglutemate
My favorite commercial is one of the car insurance ones, the one that is a fake ad for a reality show called 'little house'
"the marriage was built to last..
but the house was built too small!"
and then it has the couple doing stuff like trying in vain to flip a pancake in the kitchen, sitting in the miniscule hot tub, etc. that was hilarious ^-^

I think my least favorite ads are for the Trojan condoms.. but they are pretty amusing coming from the point of the channel they're on.
the only channel I think I have ever seen them on is the G4; the video game channel.. a channel watched mainly by nerds and the like..
so considering the reputation of nerds' sex lives, why in the world would they be needing condoms??
hmm
arachnidoc17
Those car insurance commercials where it really looks like one commercial, (One I seriously thought was going to be an Old Navy commercial, but then... ) "But it won't help me save on car insurance!"
depressed lonely crazy person
my favorite add is the "say no to plactic bags" one
for those that havn't seen it this is what happens
we (the audience) see a guy walking up to the counter in a video rental place *he places his video on the counter*
the chic working there says is that all for today
video guy oh no and grabs a kit-kat type thing
video store chic then says "would you like me to put those insomething thatinjures our precious marine life, clogs our creeks and drains and adds to the 100,000 plactic bags being dumped in lanndfill every hour taking up to 1000 years to break down *expectant boppy smile*
video guy hhmmnn *light bulb* i could just carry them
and she smiles and gives him his video and kit-kat
and he smiles and leaves knowing he's saved a little piece of the environment

and thats just cool. i'm kind of fond of the other add in the set if only because of the reaction of the checkout chic

I have just seen the coolest advert for a Citreon C4.

The car transforms into a robot (Transformers style, funny that) and is dancing around to this sort of techno type music.  Truly the coolest advert I've seen in a long while.

If you're in the UK keep an eye out for it.

I've never really seen a political advert as such on British TV. Instead we get fifteen minute slots for election manifestos once a night on the big terrestrial channels.
*

Don't we get two minute jobbies shoved in between programs as well? Where each party just basically slags off the others then tells you to vote for their own?

Personally, there's one line in an advert that really annoys me:
"...imagine if Lucozade redesigned water..."
I mean, redesigned? Like, took it apart and put the atoms together a bit different? That just bugs me. Apart from that, the advert is pretty cool, with a guy made out of water swimming. In water.

Several people have mentioned the Geico ads... The ads with the Gecko, the ads that make fun of other commercials, the ads where they showed stupid people doing stupid things... and, of course, the ad where the jogger runs into the deer... very funny... the only Geico ads I don't like are the ones with both the Gecko and the Geico guy together... those are just dumb.

As for ads I don't like... There's a series of ads about a "Male Enhancement" product, where the main charachter always has this Sh*t eating grin plastered on his face... I hate those!

Oh, yes... and all those diamond ads, always aimed at Men, implying that they can buy a woman's love, if they just buy her a diamond... makes me sick. And you'll notice, they never mention the fact that diamond sales help finance bloody civil wars in Africa, and helped shore up Apartheid... No, just buy your woman a diamond, and she'll be yours, forever... mad.gif

Yes! I love that advert.

I saw the Worst Advert Ever over the Christmas period.

Its the 'Crazy Frog' Advert that advertises an annoying mobile phone ringtone. Now, I wouldn't mind if it was on once in a night (I cope with that much annoyance) but not twice every bloody ad break. Grr, it just infuriates me so much. mad.gif
Black-Wings
oooo... I love the advert for dairy lee light... we studied it in English for a bit. It's the one where there's this cow.. and then it's floating in the air...hehehehehe
Faerieryn
damn crazy frog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's on every advert break AT LEAST twice!!!!!

I've got a dvd called "Charley Says", it's 2 and a half hours of the old government information ads that used to be broadcast between schools programmes and at 2 0 clock in the morning. I swear they show them that late to scare the pants off you when you've rolled in drunk from the clubs.."Little Jimmy should never have flown his kite so near a pylon....BANG!!!" One incinerated child later and I need new pants... laugh.gif
All the classics are on there, Charley the cat, The Tufty club, The Protect and Survive ads that show what to do in case of Nuclear attack...Very cheery stuff rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

That one did the same to me. There was also the sparkler one for Bonfire night - where the mother asks her little girl to show her hands to a friend after she picked up a sparkler she had dropped. *shivers* I will never let my son hold a sparkler.

And the dangers of escalators. They showed us that one at school. It demonstrated with a pair of wellies what happens if you get your feet too close to the sides or back of an escalator step. One chewed up welly later and I'm still nervous on the bloody things.

Just saw a commercial where one of those Asimo Robots puts a flag in a golf hole. Anyone remember "Family Matters", that show with Jaleel White, who played Steve Erkle? The robot walks just like he did... ph34r.gif laugh.gif

What impresses me about that ad is that nothing is computer enhanced, even the tires (weighted to roll uphill)

That's the point - it wouldn't be clever if it was computer enhanced.

I actually have a DVD with that on. I got it free from a car show off the Honda stand

The Geico gecko doing the robot and the Geico squirrels are the BEST commercials EVER.

Some of the ones for "natural male enhancement" make me giggle. You have to admit, it is fairly clever they way they did it.

I HATE the Gap and Old Navy commercials. HATE them. Every time I see them I want to reach through the television screen, grab the dancers, and bitch-slap them.
Izzy
I HATE the stupid Florida Metripolian(didn't spell that right) university commericail! OMFG they made like 80 of those! I can't stand the one where the lady goes "I know you've seen this commerical a thousand times...So what are you doing still sitting on the couch?Call now!" I hate all car commericals..all are the same..."put down $1000 dollars and we'll match it" "it's the car of the yr and every1 needs to own it" blah blah blah! I hate the Drawn Together commercials on Comedy Central for 2 reasons. 1: They're too perverted that it just wants to make you throw up. 2: whenever I'm watching CC and my mom sees that comercial come on she'll be all like "What the hell are you watching?!CHange the god damn channel!" and then i'll be like "Relax it's just a commercial" then she'll say "dont you talk back to me! I don't want you watching that crap on the idiot box!"
Then the commercial will be over, an whatever I was watching will start again. On one occasion, The Sweetest Thing was on after the commercial, and all my mom said was "move over and pass the popcorn"... dry.gif

I like the geico commercial, but hate the sate farm one. I mean the talking gecko is just funny. I like the commercial where they're advertising stuff like the DEw Action Sports Tour or the Supercross.

Most of all, I like the Super Bowl Commercial!(just not the one with the pepsi)

Well I hate all advertising in general and I am glad the bbc doesn't have them. I would rather pay for TV licences than sit through adverts.

When I was 7/8/9 I watched a childrens TV channel called boomerang. The advert breaks were long and had a particular routine. First there was what seemed like 5 minutes of boys toys adverts (Remote controll cars, action man etc.). Then there was the 5 minutes of girls toys adverts (Polly in your pocket, barbie and tiny horses that had been shaved, dropped in a bucket of pink paint and then tattooed with rainbows), and then the loan adverts. Yes. Loan adverts on a childrens channel, the "sue people with us for no very good reason!" adverts, the insurance adverts, and the proffessional refinancer adverts that ask you to send all your remaining money to them and they will sort out your debts.

I get really annoyed at the constant barrage of British ads featuring really badly crossdressed men. It never fails to amaze me that people think it's funny. Could you imagine if they picked on any other minority to the same extent. The general attitude seems to be "Oh it's ok, it's only a bit of a laugh". Yeah right, tell that to the families and friends of all the transfolk who kill themselves rather than face all the crap that they know will be dished out. mad.gif

Sorry folk, I know I'm ranting, but it really does make me see red. mad.gif

Two of the most recent ones are Bounty kitchen roll and Sheila's Wheels car insurance. It's a very common practice, I'm surprised you haven't noticed it.

I hate all commercials they are a real pain more so on the BBC which claims is non commercial. mad.gif What rubbish it's full of them.

BBC commercials
Izzy
OK, one commerical I really hate is the one that used to be on the radio a lot with the guy singing this stupid song for some house company called Lenard (or something like that). And another commercial I hate is the one on TV about parental controls, telling parents what to do with the remote. Lucky for me, I put the code on the TV way before my mom saw the commercial. biggrin.gif

Arn't the BBC Ads more trailers (though things like TV Licencing and the annoying 'digit al robot' are government public information films - and are legally required to be be broadcast)

Loan Ads with their thinly veiled metaphors really irritate me (now we no longer have Sky I hardly see them.

Oh and the Citreon Robot is back (though not as good as the original)

I have seen about 50 companies advertising with the slogan "why pay more?"

The best adverts are the old cadbury's smash adverts with the tin aliens.

I hate the Garnier Nutrisse advert with the woman patronising and degrading her mother over the phone. It's so staged and evil and horrible to watch - I feel like killing that woman every time I see it.

mad.gif Grrr.

Hmmm... wandered in here due to a spam report and I notice Gothic Angel appears to have no idea who Davina McCall is. I assume lots of sleep or cranial paper bag dwelling was in order... Anyway, the amusing bit is the fact that, apparently, the erstwhile Ms McCall doesn't actually speak to her mum in real life.

The new commercial for Mercenaries 2 is pretty awesome. It had a short song and now that I've searched YouTube, I've found there's a full song. Sweet.
