Just started
Darwin's Radio by Greg Bear. It looks like this ancient virus is killing fetuses or something. I don't understand all the sientific technobabble.
When I read it I thought it was trying to describe what would happen if humanity underwent a jump in evolution. Similar to the neandertal/cro magnon man jump. Most of humanity stays the same but some children are born...different. I don't think it was triggered by a virus but is a natural mutation of the species in order to take better advantage of the world as it is. Greg Bear is exploring the idea. Would we kill off our possible successors? Would we protect them as our children?
That's pretty much the conclusion I drew after I finished. I had only read about fifty or so pages when I posted that.

It's a bit jumbled until it gets closer to the end.

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. I really liked it!

Does anyone know how the sequels stack up against the first? (No spoilers please.)

I have been told that they are just as awesome, although I have yet to read Ender's Game myself, but I do have a reliable source.

I finished The Waterworks by E.L. Doctorow for my school project and am currently not having enough time to read except for bits of Nietzsche.

Almost finished
Expiration Date by Tim Powers. It's a ghost story sort of, a magic in modern world sort of, and it's got the dovetailing story lines that happen in some of his other books as well. I tend to like his books though and my handle is from his
Anubis Gates. A novel about time travel - actually done well!

I'm reading The War with Earth, a halfway decent but long-winded sci-fi book by Leo Franckowski and some other guy whose name I can't recall. The style reminds me a bit of Heinlein, but in the "women are inferior on most levels" sense rather than the "wow look at the great story" sense.

Finished reading Good Omens (The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch) by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett for the....oh, 15th time yesterday night. One of these days I've got to buy a new copy of this to keep my current (a 1st edition 1st print run) from wearing out. That and I've got to get it signed. This book is SO FREAKING GOOD!

Aww, don't let us down, Kant.
From what I can remember from philosophy last year, I'm a big fan of Kant's ideas, but his works are almost unreadable. I've heard (possibly somewhere on this forum, now I think about it) that many German philosophy students prefer to study the english translations than tackle Kant's work in it's original german form.
Also, love the new av.

I want to learn German, but I doubt I would ever be able to learn enough to read a philosopher in German. *points to English translation of Nietzsche* I love that thing. Maybe poetry, no philosophy. And I only know vaguely of Kant's ideas, but I like some of them, so I thought it disappointing that it would be so unreadable. Ah well. I've got plenty to read as it is!

Reading "Rhinoceros" by Eugene Ionesco. Theatre of the absurd. Go me!
Also, after Mata inadvertantly reccomended it (by which I mean he passively mentioned he'd read it) I started "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus." Mata, if you're reading this, you're right. It's got one idea for two hundred rubbishy pages.

Ok, so I read about 50 pages of 'Why Do People Hate America?',(the boring book in the world!!!!!!!) and then realized I had no idea what was going on, and probably never would. (Not to mention it was the longest 50 pgs of my life...

) So I started reading "Look For Me By Moonlight" instead, which I finsihed 3 days ago. Great book
