I've recently been getting back into my stash of cheesy 80's rock music as my new car only has a tape player and no CD player (yet).

I've dug out my Saigon Kick, Tyketto, Shotgun Messiah and Electric Boys.

Does anyone remember any cheesy 80's rock bands like these? unsure.gif

Am I alone out there with my love of this type of music?

Depends on how you define 'cheesy'. I love stuff like Aerosmith, Iron Maiden and (the best of all cheesy 80's rock) Bon Jovi, but I think your selection has just blown all that out the water.

Hehe. I miss Boston. They were fantabulous.

I'm sorry but my selection is way cheesier than Bon Jovi.....even with his perm.....have you seen some of these guys from Electric Boys? laugh.gif

Electric Boys
Check out the hair on these guys laugh.gif

Shotgun Messiah
One of these guys (Tim Skold) is now the bassist with Marilyn Manson! laugh.gif

Tyketto!
These guys are playing their original line up on tour soon biggrin.gif

Ehehehehe. Aww, they're so fluffy.

Yeah, my Hair Metal tastes are rather disappointing. I shall bow down at your superior cheesiness!
Snugglebum the Destroyer
I remember what Pixie has just shown you FU.

I'm an old, old woman... biggrin.gif

(P.S - they were so cool!!)

I still have a weak spot for Def Leppard. And Slaughter. Other than that, I think I've pretty much blocked out anything else that was once in my '80s rock memory. Or at least I don't like anything else anymore. Poison was/is kind of good though...
Pixelgoth
I just won an ebay item.............Saigon Kick's debut album...........on cassette.........how late 80's/early 90's! laugh.gif

Seriously though... I wish I'd been alive for more than 2 years of the 80's - the rock from that era kicks a**

Can't beat Ratt and Poison!

I saw Bon Jovi live at Hyde Park not long ago. Now that was fun.

Hmm... if we're including Aerosmith on this, count me in. I'm an Aerosmith fanatic. However, I like them from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. I actually just saw them in concert (again) a few weeks ago. Awesome, I might add.

The 80s did put out some good metal, though how cheesy it is, I don't really know. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and the obligatory Metallica are the really worthy mentionables. I don't listen to a lot of the formers, but the latter... pshaw. I love Metallica... everything up to St. Anger (which sucked!) I listen to.

As for hair metal bands, which I think you're going for... I used to really like hair metal. Poison and Def Leopard were big with me. And, since I currently reside in New Jersey, I'm obligated to like Bon Jovi. Could you throw Kiss in the mix, too? I know that they were pre-80s, but they did some stuff during. And they had/have pretty big hair. Ooo! And Van Halen! I almost forgot about Van Halen. They had some pretty good stuff.

But the real cheese in 80s music was not found in the hair metal. That's right... I'm talking about NEW WAVE! Personally, I love Duran Duran, and have been, on occasion, known to listen to a VERY little Boy George. But seriously, look at all the cheesy crap that was put out under the guise of being "New Wave." Woo hoo. It s like every B celebrity and their momma had a record deal. *Shudder* Oh wait... that sounds vaguely familiar.

Off topic, off topic! tongue.gif

This thread is about cheesy 80's metal not sad 80's pop! tongue.gif

KISS can also be included as they are so cheesy it's untrue! laugh.gif Aerosmith I'm not sure about. Personally I would define ultimate cheesiness by the band not being around anymore (i.e. not releasing records) and when they do gig you guarantee to get some fat, sweaty middleaged man in an Iron Maiden t-shirt (or said bands shirt) at the front of the gig holding his metal horns aloft and moshing with a receding hairline! laugh.gif

Now that's cheese! biggrin.gif

Yay! For 80's cheese!!! Can't beat this stuff for dancing to. *<--80's throw back*
Warrant with their one and only good song Cherry Pie. Motley Crue of course, W.A.S.P.
One of my friends would always make me to dance to this song by Firehouse and then refuse to dance to the Sisters of Mercy in exchange! dry.gif

W.A.S.P., Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Slammer, Aerosmith, KISS, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Motley Crue...

The list an endless dive of pure undalterated, hair obssessed fun!

Love the era, probably the best of my life so far, even though I was quite young, everything the 80s threw at you was so cheesy, yet so much fun and enjoyable!

Van Halen, Van Halen, Van Halen, Van Halen, Van Halen, Van Halen, Van Halen, Van Halen, Van Halen, Van Halen, Van Halen, Van Halen, Van Halen, Van Halen!

Man do I love Van Halen... Eddie kicked ass, Michael Anthony kicked ass, Alex kicked ass, David Lee Roth kicked ass, but I hate Hagar and Cherone. Rrgh!
Silver Star Angel of Da Towers
I actually like the 80's cheese... i watched too much Pop Up Video 80's in my younger days.

Bon Jovi are the coolest band around. Def Leppard are supreme. Aerosmith are superb. Was watching a film the other day with Cherry PIe on the soundtrack. The only way to describe that track is horny! Were Guns n roses late 80's or did they just miss?
Usurper MrTeapot
My first concert was The Who, my mummy was 7 months preg at the time. Not very Hair Metal but they were in the 80s...

You even liked Honkin on Bobo?

There's an 80s station here that I just love. Today, I heard Dead or Alive's "You Spin Me Round" and like two U2 songs that I hadn't heard in years. We listen to it at work all the time. It's awesome.

Of course I liked "Honkin on Bobo" (a 2004 album, mind you). I saw them on the tour over the course of the summer and they were great. Also saw them on the "Just Push Play" tour. Hell, I named my tuba (it's a tradition in the band to name one's instrument) Bobo for the simple sake of being able to say "I'm honkin' on Bobo!"

Aerosmith rules.

I've just remembered a really cheesy vid The Rollins band "Liar"

You know what I heard? "Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats. That song's so silly, I love it. I also heard recently "Personal Jesus," "Tainted Love" and "Beds Are Burning."
