Sir Maxerpopple
Went to see the village today, and came back a little iffy about the whole ordeal. Wasn't very suspenseful at all, the creatures didn't invoke the same amount of fear as the Signs aliens did (I thought they were kind of cuddly-wuddly actually), and once I learned they weren't real, there was a spot of several minutes where I kept thinking so why am I still watching this?. I found it better than Signs (not a great challenge) but not as good as Sixth Sense. However the final twist was one I surely enjoyed. Maybe it's just me but do you think it would make an improvement if it was a 17th century as opposed to 19th century village?

Your views on the movie?

Eventhough a storm came along and decided to knock out the power and I didn't get to see the end, I thought the movie was a little disturbing. I was only able to see up to where the girl goes into the woods to go to the town. The village people, heh, sort of reminded me of a religious sect trying to go against the evils of modernization. I would like to know what happened in the end, but I don't want to spend seven more dollars just to see it again.

The girl goes into the woods, her guides get scared and leave her. After falling into a pitfall, she eventually stumbles into a field of red berries, where there is a creature who attacks her. After she tricks it into falling into a pit, she kills it with a stick. It is only later we learn (and she does not) that it was Noah in one of the costumes.

She eventually finds the road and climbs a wall, turns out Covington Woods is inside Walker National Park. A helpful twenty-something guy gives her the medecine, and she makes her way back, and life in the village goes on.

How delightful, the elders of the village are a group of people who decided to escape the evils of modernization, and the others don't know of it. When the girl goes outside, a car greets her. That was the final twist. The whole thing was a scheme.

blink.gif I could've sworn I made a post here. A long one too. Hmm...
Sir Maxerpopple
I think you did, I noticed that but thought I might have been mistaken. Could you repost?

Yeah, I was actually standing right next to gothictheysay when she posted it. Well, we basically said that we did not think the creatures were cuddly wuddly, we were happy that the heroin was a girl, we all screamed at least once, and we thought it odd that the creature's head was that of a warthog. I thoght it looked like an echidna with the head of a warthog. My friend said Lucious died. I told them he didn't and she got mad at me rolleyes.gif . Umm, I think that's it. Oh, my sister went to see it with her boyfriend, Josh, and when Ivy started slapping Noah Josh yelled out "what a bitch!" and when she made Noah fall down the hold he said "that bitch". He made the theater laugh. Oh, and there was one point when the whole theatre screamed at the same time and then we all laughed at ourselves. My sister didn't like the movie. I liked the plot twists. I didn't like that they made red the "bad color" though. I like red. Why couldn't pink be the bad color, or grey or something?

*snicker* heroinE, Taylor. The best plot twist was when Lucius got stabbed. There goes the main character that everyone thought was going to save them! Teehee. Oh, and it was a little cheesy when she threw her arms out in front of the hole in the ground. The other friend I was with started crying when she thought Lucius was dead. We got pretty creeped out, though, because we're wimps...and I didn't have my glasses on so it was much, much scarier. Actually, when Ivy started slapping Noah, we were cheering her on...I had to stifle a giggle when Lucius was stabbed because Lucius was waaay too quiet for a character. Also it was funny in the beginning when Kitty declared her love for Lucius. The best part about the whole theater was everyone screamed at the same time. I think it was when Ivy was in the woods when we screamed, paused, and then laughed because we were just being paranoid. And the elders were sadists, IMO.

Sadists, gothic? I'd call them visionaries. biggrin.gif

Ooooh I only saw the advert yesterday. It scared me sh*tless.

But from what your saying it doesnt sound like that actuasl film is too scary...? I have to say, the signs aliens were freaky but the bit of signs that freaked me the most was in the special features they explained that they were gonna make the aliens be able to become totally invisible, and showed some cgi shots of normal scenery, then these eyes open and the scenery starts to move. That scared me. A lot.

And I gotta say, the Sixth Sense was an awesome film but it didnt really sacre me (which is odd cos usually I freak out at the stupidest lil parts of supernatural movies). I saw it as more "morbid" than "scary.

It's sort of suspenseful as well as...well, I thought it was a little scary. Mr. Creature pops out of places and the noises that were "warning noises" were a bit unsettling and nailbiting. Mr. Creature also unexpectedly runs and jumps. The almost-got-caught-by-creature occurences are a bit common, too.

But if you ask two other friends who came with me, well...they sat at the end of the row laughing at the other five of us as we clung to each other. tongue.gif So I suppose you'll have to see for yourself.
Silver Star Angel of Da Towers
It disappointed me. I read a book JUST like it, too. It really wasn't scary, and the ending sucked.

That's what ruined Secret Window for me sad.gif Damn deja vu.

I liked it. But personally I wouldn't have called it a horror film. It made a better drama than a horror film, for the most part. Or something like that. Although I did get rather jumpy in a few parts.
Mutilation
Can someone tell me one thing as I haven't seen it yet:

Is it better than Gremlins? You know with Gizmo the Furby thing.
