Any forumites awaiting the latest, greatest weather pattern to hit the States?
Just curious.

I'm waiting to sit back and laugh at all of those paranoid to think that north Florida will be blown away by the storm.

I'm actually really worried, one of my best friends goes to school in Melbourne... it's his first hurricane. >_> I'm sure the university will take care of him but still. *sadface*

Yeah, one of my friends used to live in Florida, and she has a bunch of family and friends down there...she had a bad night last night because she was so worried about them. And she called one and they were just as scared as she was. sad.gif

I'm still going to worry about yall....despite CNN's exaggeration of the first storm. That was pretty tragic.

I have first hand knowledge that Charley SUCKED! (excuse my french) I live 30 miles south of where it made landfall... I had to go into the devastation zone to see about some of my relatives and friends... THERE ARE BUILDINGS MISSING!!! There is spots where building are just wiped off the face of the earth... the debries (sp) are scattered not where they used to be, not on the road, but on the other side of the road(4 lane divided highway)! But... Francis should turn at the last moment just to laugh at all the school commissioners

I know the likelyhood of that happening is slim to none- but that's just like asking for it.

its going to be a boring storm for me now... though i do get to go sailing because of the wind...
*wishes for more wind*

That's nothing compared to Hailey's Comet that we have in England.

By the time it hits Orlando where my buddy Boogie lives, it'll be a tropical storm. By the time it hits me, it'll be a tropical depression. Local newes isn't sensationalizing it as much as CNN and the Weather Channel, but it's still annoying.

My university closed down at noon on Thursday. And I don't just mean classes were cancelled, I mean the place was locked down like Ft. Knox. Plus all the students had to be out by six that evening. If you didn't have anywhere to go, you'd be SOL.There were a lot of cats complaining about that.

Just to tell you guys, it's raining pretty hard here out of the east. Flooding hasn't been a problem or anything, but the weather's still pretty bad. THings should be cool, though.

SW-Fla is in one piece still, though Lake Okeechobee is being drained down the Caloosahatchee River to relieve some of the up river flooding from Frances so we have some very high water around here. Besides that I was in a practical dead zone of the storm... Got some kool storm pics too!

I'll eventually post them for all to see...

The power went out for about an hour last night and some of the phone lines are messed up. It should be all gravy as soon as the storm passes through.

News mentioned that the hurricane has been downgraded to a tropical storm. They mention that it may drift back out and pick up steam for another go. Glad that everybody is all right so far.
Righteous
The last I heard, it would go north and eventually become a tropical depression. Hmm. We'll have to see.

Aislinn wanted me to tell you guys that a tree fell on her transformer and the GOVERNMENT OWNED JEA probably won't have power to her house until the 25th.

Some of the houses at the beach are torn up. A few places lost roofs or were awash in seawater or got covered in sand (as did several of the roads). It's calm now; there's no wind and only a little rain.

And as for me, the power went out for a few hours, my basement got a little bit of flooding, a few trees fell and part of the fence was blown over.
