So yeah I was sitting here trying to study and my mind kept going to stereotypes and how much I hate them.

It started cause I was thinking of the Eve myth which created the stereotype that women are sinful, morally corrupt, and tempting. (i'm studying for womens history)

Anyways here are a few stereotypes I hate.....feel free to join in thats why this is now a thread hehe:

Californians are all blonde, surf, and tan. Plus the women say like a lot and the men say dude a lot. - I'm not blonde, I'm far from tan, and I wouldn't know how to surf if I tried. I do overuse the word like however, just not to the extent of a valley girl.

Gay men are all queens and gay women are bull dykes - I hate the d word, but I didn't know how else to put it. Frankly no ones sexuality makes them act a certain way or look a certain way. I lived in a town in TN that thought if they were gay they had to be the stereotype and that bugged me.

Fat people are lazy - excuse me I'm fat, and I am far from lazy except when I spend my day on the forum. I do a lot of stuff around the house since I currently don't have a job, and I go to school as well. When I do have a job I usually work full time as well as going to school, leaves little time for working out to keep my good shape.

Ok those are just a few.....I'm done with my rant

People in the south usa are all white trash who live in trailors and are dumb. I know pleanty who aren't and met some lovely people in TN when I lived there......just wasnt home..........Oh and I lived in a trailor in a trailor park in TN and never got sucked up by a tornado.

sorry sam but statisically boys are better at math and science than girls, girls on the other hand are better at language arts including; reading, writing, foreign languages, and comprehension. girls are also better at doing multiple tasks at the same time than boys.

I got dreads... your not ment to wash dreads... i don't was myt dreads... and because of this ppl asume their gonna catch a disease if they touch me/something that has touched my hair... it gets on my nerves!!! coz my hair has been in my mouth (thru headbanging / sumtimes when eating and such) and it hasn't made me i'll at all!!! infact the weird thing is it tasted kinda sweet...

primarily i hate canadian stereotypes. im canadian, yet i live in america(grrr i hate this place) and everyone says 'aboot' and 'eh' to me. most canadians dont say that!

i hate that people think hispanic immagrants are a) stupid rapists [for the men] c) dirty etc. my town has alot of immigrants from guatemala and people call them "dirty mexicans" and if you are walking around in town girls will avoid the men. i know people who are immigrants from guatemala, and are family friends. they are just like everyone else, just less accepted. every sunday there are football [soccer] games which are sponsored by the richer people on the teams, and they have uniforms and everything, and it is a little nice community. there are no rapists, and they are not dirty, or stupid! just because you cant speak english does not mean you are stupid! when me and my brother go with our friends, people stare at him because he looks so white. i look white, but i also sort of look like i could be hispanic, so i dont really get stared at that much [despite my hair] . so its not like people arent kind of cautious around white people who they dont know. i really hate racists. and people think our school is so unsegreated. people are friends among blacks and whites, and mostly people arent racist, but when its these immigrants, they are really racist, and its horrible. i also hate that people think that if you are from NY you live in the city, that goths are satanists, or even that people who dye their hair unnatural colors are goths.

the ppl who call goths satanists are funny. especially when they try to exorsize (sp?) a goth aaaah, yesh, laugh at the insane, hyperangry jesus-preachers (i do NOT mean preists i mean those crazy ppl who stand in subways and tell you the world is ending and you'll go to hell if you dun go to whatever church and worship whoever whenevever they tell you to)

My bugbears are as follows:

Lesbian/bi women are butch/want to be men. That is so wrong!! None of my lesbian friends want to be men, and speaking as a bi girl I do not want to be a man. Having boobs is more fun anyway!!!

Pagans/witches worship the devil/have sex in public/run around naked all the time. Again, not true, the devil is a christian invention borne out of fear and lack of respect for the Horned God Pan, who was later turned into the devil by christian propaganda. And I don't run around naked all the time (sorry Leo) although some witches prefer to work Skyclad (naked) but only in private. We have the law to think about!!!!

Vegetarians are weaker/iller than meat eaters. Rubbish, my 5 year old is veggie and has been all his life and is the most robust, healthy (and lively) kid that I know.

If you have weird hair/piercings/dress like a goth/punk then you are obviously thick as pigshit, on drugs and completely unintelligent. Rubbish!! I am a qualified nurse and am currently doing a part time Batchelor of Science degree.

British, and especially English guys, are somehow funnier, more intelligent, wittier, charming and more attractive than American guys. Soooo, not true, as some of my american friends (who are girls) found out when my mates come over to visit, and they experienced the joys of meeting The Rich. Who got absolutely trashed, and asked one of my friends "do you want a shag" about 30 times. *slaps forehead* what a charmer.

I am actually shy though, and I get made fun of alot. That's why I run here, because I hate my family and just about everyone else I know.

I'm sure not many people can sympathesize with this complaint, but really it's quite annoying: Why is it that if you're an italian american, you can solve everyone's "problems"? And of course, you can speak Italian fluently and know everything there is to know about Italy. (Actually, that last incident was something my teacher pulled on me. Prick.)

there's a problem with hatin ppl who're prejudice for whatever reason, it makes you prejudice and then you're called a hypocrite. also, not all prejudiced ppl are necessarily BAD ppl, some of them are really schway and normal except for that one issue. ok, i'll give you an example. i used to hate ANYONE who hated the french because of the iraq war. i dunno why, when i think about it, i jus did because i believed their beliefs were wrong. then one day, i was talkin with one of my friends and he made an anti-french argument. the only reason i listened was because it wasn't anywhere near as extreme as some other ppl's arguments. when i actually listened to it, i began to see his point of view, tho i still disagree with him for many reasons (especially because his reasoning could be used against our government). i think that ppl should listen to prejudice ppl's opinions and, instead of sayin that they're wrong (which the probably are but it makes them think you're uninformed), talk/debate with them about their beliefs locically. not only might you change them, but you'll definitelly learn a lot, especially about their basis for their beliefs. i dun think i changed my friend's opinion, but it did sorta explain to me how ppl can possibly support bush and hate the french and we're both still friends, tho that might be cause we've been friends all our lives but maybe not

My least favorite stereotypes (most of these are inspired by my wonderful high school years and from my mother):

*People who dye their hair funny colours are satan-worshipping druggies who drop out of school.
*People who listen to metal and other atypical music are satan-worshipping druggies who drop out of school.
*People who wear black/purple/green/anything-other-than-red nail polish are satan-worshipping druggies who drop out of school. (Are you starting to see a pattern here?)
*People who dye their hair funny colours are also potentially gay.
*Lesbians, bisexuals and gay men are sexual perverts and child molesters, and they spend all of their time participating in huge orgies.
*Atheists are satan-worshippers (huh?) or at the very least, they are very bad people who have no morals.
*Shy or quiet people have bland personalities and do nothing remotely interesting. A couple people already mentioned this one, but it is sooooooo true and it annoys the piss out of me that every time I say something remotely interesting or unexpected/unconventional, everyone has to act all surprised. At one point in high school, I started deliberately getting bad grades in my classes because I was sick of everyone thinking I was some sort of goody-goody who had no personality or didn't think for myself. Admittedly, not the best way to deal with the situation, but oh well...
