Pab
Yup, El Pab gets a holiday* in wonderful wonderful Copenhagen. We are going to a wedding on Saturday, a massive "oy, we're over here' party on Sunday and everywhere else on the other days (flying back Wednesday). I shall be finding some sort of internet café or something at least once to check out the Matazone, obviously. Otherwise it shall be lots of Danes and some very expensive bevvies**.

Question: anybody know anywhere that has good acoustic-guitar-based live music in Copenhagen? _Somebody has to know this stuff ....

Yay! Pab gets a holiday!!! Enjoy!
Righteous
Have fun there, bro. Make sure you take plenty of pictures for us.

Oh, and kudoes on the US/UK translations. You have no clue how many times I've been around UK folks with my US friends who ask stuff like, "What holiday are they talking about? Is it one of those English ones?" or "Why are they all talking about smoking fags? Even the chicks are."
Mata
We only let close friends see our pants too.

Have fun on the holiday Pab!

Have fun on your holiday! Actually, I am glad you used that word instead of vacation. Sounds so much prettier...

I heard there was a nice park thing there. It's called Tivoli Gardens I think. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Ashbless
Yayy! Have a great time.
Pab
Yeah Silver ... we'll be going to Tivoli as it'll still be open (it closes after summer). Tivoli was used in a James Bond movie ... the first one with Timothy Dalton (I think), can't remember the name ... but yes, it's supposed to be fantastic.

Btw, Ana (the wife) is Danish, and from Copenhagen, so we know about 9000 people there, hence the major party on Sunday ...

This trip should be a goodie.

Thanks peeps

Pab
BACK from Denmark, and oh what a place. It is fantastic. The pastries, the bicycles, the hotdogs, the girls on bicycles eating hot-dogs, the streets, the metro, the parks, the furniture, the parties, Tivoli, all of it ... brill ... shall get pics and do some kind of exposé or something ... good stuff, yay Denmark

We had some grumpy customs official split hairs with us in SF last year about "vacation" and "holiday" along the lines of...

Official: So what's your reason for the trip?
Me: A holiday
Official: Which holiday?
Me: Er...a holiday
Official: Yes *exaggerated* but WHICH ONE?
Me: Oh right yeah you mean VACATION don't you rolleyes.gif

At which point I had to check my sarcasm as he was looking suspiciously at me and I wanted to actually get into America. Stupid man. He knew what I meant surely? dry.gif
Pab
He is a customs officer. They are field engineers of the obtuse.

Example:

CO: "hmmm .. thats big and heavy. what is it?"

Victim: "a dictionary"

CO: "Whats that?"

I recall almost getting stuck in Mexico because my ID was old and was when I had short hair and no facial hair. That and because of my Asian-ness, I tan hardcore after about ten seconds in the sun and I rarely go outside. Factor in my black hair and I looked hispanic. I got to the gate and something similar to this ensued:

(I get up there)
Guard: Can I see your ID?
(I give the guard my ID; he looks at it; looks at me; looks at my ID; looks at me; looks at my ID; looks at me; looks at my ID; studies it for awhile)
Guard: Okay. You can go.

i hope you enjoy your holiday pab!! biggrin.gif

I was just thinking, you know, Denmark is one of those places I just never....think about. I don't mean to sound snobbish; I am just from Manitoba and live under a big rock I guess. It's just that no one I know has said, Hey, Lana, I'm going to Denmark!! (except Pab). It's unexpected, like my friend who is from Finland. I mean, when was the last time you met someone who was from, or was going, to Finland? Or is this just me?

Do lots of people go to Denmark? Should I be looking at it as a honeymoon destination? What are the attractions? Tivoli park I guess, from reading this thread, and hotdogs and pastry as well it appears. So tell me, who else has been to Denmark?
Polocrunch
Ooh! Ooh! I have! I went when I was about seven. We went to Legoland Denmark, which was really cool, and stayed on a farm in the countryside. It was very pretty there, the weather wasn't too bad and Legoland was plenty of fun. Denmark's a really pleasant country, and I intend to visit it again sometime.

(Pssst, it's spelt "Finland", not "Finnland". Someone from Finland is a Finn, though.)
