Y'know, with the advent of the new LGG animation, I was just sitting here, thinking about the sum total of the animations and I wondered: gee, what's with all the rabbits?
Presumably spawned by the Hopper's Pizza, which probably was a reference to the space hopper, but in my strangely sleep deprived mind, I couldn't stop thinking about bunnies... hoppity hoppity hop hop hop...
Goth bunnies, Fluffykin, of course Samuri Lapin, the bunny in the nine-mouthed baby game, the bunny as the first animal in the be good-be evil test, the easter bunny in the easter animations, Pink Fwuffy Bunny in the VFMP archive... am I missing any of the major ones?
It could perhaps all be explained away by Pink Fwuffy Bunny, or perhaps Mata's endearing insanity, but I'm curious as to what neuroses inspire these bunny-plagued visions.
So what's with all the rabbits?

I'd never noticed that before... Mata obviously has some kind of fascination.
(Bunnies aren't just cute like everybody supposes, they've got those hoppy legs and twitchy little noses. And what's with all the carrots? What do they need such good eyesight for anyway? Bunnies! Bunnies! It must be bunnies!)
I'll shut up now.

Well yes, bunnies are far too cute and therefore are most likely up to something. I have wondered about my obsession with bunnies before too.
You're way off the mark with the Hopper thing though...

I read that about half an hour ago and I STILL have the song stuck in my head, you little cow.

Buffy the musical. It was good the first time. Then it just got catchy. Now I hate it with a passion, because the smallest thing can set it looping in my head for hours. Thanks a bunch.

Mwahahahahaha. My evil plan has worked.
I used to have 'I'll Never Tell' stuck in my head for weeks on end. I wish I was over-exaggerating, I really do...

I did I'll Never Tell as a duet for my junior voice recital when I was in the music program... which annoyed the heck out of Jicama, because I'll Never Tell would get stuck in her head for hours.
Personally, it all just amuses me to no end, so I don't mind it being stuck in my head. Probably that's the reason I bought the soundtrack.

Now I'm very baffled as to the Hopper Pizza thing. I really doubted it had anything to do with bunnies -- it just sparked my Find-The-Bunny-Obsession -- but now I'm curious as to what it references if not the space hopper. Any ideas, anyone?

It's a pretty easy one to trace really, I'm surprised no-one's chimed in with it yet, but I've only had one person recognise it and mention it in an email so far, and he's a writer that I've worked with, so I expect him to recognise that kind of thing.

It's just a visual joke, I didn't think the reference was going to be this tricky for people to figure out!

Edward Hopper is the guy that drew the orginal diner, the "Hoppers Pizza" is based on it was called Nighthawks.

If you search for 'Hopper' in Google pretty much every page features that painting, and it's number one on the image search.

I thought the Hopper reference was obvious..... Then again I also thought the Harry Harryhausen reference in Monsters Incorporated was obvious too, but I know very few ppl who got it....... I think maybe I haven't entirelly developed state-of-mind due to social depravity and sometimes think that everyone knows what I know because they think the same way. But you already knew that. Wait. No you didn't! Or did you?
Ummm..............
Anyway, it's obvious rabbits are evil. Everyone knows that. Mate just won't shut up about it, lol.

I mean that in the nicest way possible. I think he's on a mission from some higher entity to remind us of that fact and get us prepared for bloody rabbit world domination...... Either that or he's a decoy sent in by the evil kitties to shift all the blame on the poor defenceless bunnies while they subtly plot to bite off our collective achilles tendons and force us into slavery in their intergalactic empire. Yeah. Uh-huh. *nods*
They'll rule the Local Cluster with an iron 6-toed paw.
I'm hungry. Anyone has any chips? I like the paint flavoured ones...... Umm, chips!

Anyway, yes, bunnies are evil, but I'm not sure if they're very well organised. Now goats... Well, they're a different matter entirely. Evil blighters with a conspiracy stretching over aeons. Of course, they're not very good at it otherwise they'd be in control by now... Or maybe that's just what they want me to think...

What the diddlyfork is that?
A story about an exploding squirrel:
One fine evening as I was sitting in my usual position, in front of my beloved (the computer, that is), filter-feeding because I am too lazy to walk 15 feet to the pantry, I happened to look out the window. There was a squirrel sitting near the transformer, on our power line. I watched it, motionless (both the squirrel and myself), for about two minutes before it made up its squirrelly mind, and bit into the transformer. Well, there was a very loud POP and the squirrel's blackened body flew! 'Twas awesome.
Of course, our power went out, and I am convinced that it is not an isolated incident. No, I don't think that a search of the nearby bushes will reveal the squirrel's tear-stained suicide note; somewhere there is an assembly of Kamikaze Squirrels (I have an illegally downloaded game called Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel so they must exist) who are toasting their comrade's victory, and laughing about "the look on that pale kid's face when his computer shut off." Damn you squirrels! DAMN YOUUUUU!

That's a squirrel named Spip from a Belgian comic book name Spirou Et Fantasio. Or rather it's a figurine of said squirrel in the midst of a "Toothpaste War".
Oh and Zero! I know that game! Never played it though, but I know OF it!

PS: The power was knocked out to my workplace a couple of months back due to a squirrel comiting suicide by transformer. The electrical company workers found the squirrel's horribly charred body and decided to give the poor little guy a proper burial............... At the nearest dumpster.

Sheep are just as bad.

They are ploting I tell you! Them and the sheep dogs. Ploting always ploting. That whole sheep herding business is just a farce.

Birds can be pretty evil things. You never know, I might even animate a turkey at some point. For some reason turkeys look more evil than vultures.
Although, thinking about it, I guess that's like the comparison between the street hoodlum (vultures) and the sauve Bond villian (turkeys).
