Hey y'all,

Take a wee look here: http://www.snopes.com/photos/bodymods/corset.asp

Does anybody have this done? Or know someone that does? I'm intrigued. I think it looks cool but is probably lumpy under clothing.
Astarael
And it probably hurts having loads of metal rings shoved under your skin and then yanked about by a pretty but painful ribbon. *shudders* This is one for the list of scary things that people do to themselves. ph34r.gif
bryden42
Astarael, Do you disaprove? or do you just find it scary? kinda intrigued and couldn't tell from the tone of your post smile.gif kinda intrigued to know other peoples position on body modification too
Usurper MrTeapot
They really appeal to me, not getting on done but they can look really sexy when done well and looked after. Shame its so costly for being such a short term piercing, and Gods help you if they get infected or scar.
elphaba2
I agree with the sexiness, but I doubt I'd ever get it done; I'm far too much of a spaz. I'd be getting it caught on every article of clothing possible, and forgetting about the piercing and doing handstands or something. And winding up all disfigured and stuff.

Someone on the boards posted about this a while ago, though. I'm leaning towards zivane, but I can't quite remember...

I just find it scary. People are welcome to do whatever they want to their bodies and a lot of times I find the modifications interesting. But those look like they would hurt a lot, be easily infected, and not heal properly afterwards. I'm not fond of my own pain, and I wince in sympathy when I see body modifications that look painful.
Mata
Most piercers, if they agreed to do it in the first place, would say that it should only be a temporary thing. Surface piercings are extremely hard to heal properly and the amount required here give a near 100% potential for failure of at least one piercing rejecting and leading to scarring.

It's not too bad if it's done for a special occasion and will soon be taken out, but it's not the kind of thing that's a good idea to leave in.
craziness
i have seen this before and of all piercings, i honestly think it is just the most grotesque and disgusting. i see nothing appealing about it. and i like piercings!
PsychWardMike
I think I'll stay with a tradition ear, nose, tongue, belly button, eyebrow, lip, nipple, or clitors piercing. After any of those things, I really become unnerved (and some of them I still have some issues dealing with.)
Aria
I think it looks pretty, but corset piercings are really only meant to be play piercings, afaik. Mainly because most of them are done with rings, which they shouldn't be if they were to be in long enough to heal.
Righteous
I actually know someone who had this done. A few of the piercings did, indeed, get infected. I didn't see it, but this one dude I know said it didn't really look good on her. Then again, I don't think it looks good at all.

My only question is how people sleep when they get those done?
Calantyr
Incredibly cool. However after a bit of rough and tumble I imagine ther could be a lot of blood.
Snugglebum the Destroyer
I think it's fantastic. It looks especially nice down the side of the torso. It's definately something that I've considered having in the past and would have in the future (short term).

Unfortunatley, as mentioned by Mata, surface piercings can be an absolute b@stard to keep clean and looking decent.
CommieBastard
Looks beautiful to me. As has been said, they are always (or should always be) very short term piercings. Also - I remember reading an article on BMEzine about this - a worrying number of piercers do them wrong, which can leave two rows of odd-looking scars down your back or side...

You want to get your clitoris pierced Mike? laugh.gif

I think the corset piercings are very pretty to look at, must take b....what the female equivilent of balls of steel? Is there one?
Mata
Nipples of iron probably.

It's a clitoral hood piercing. Very few people pierce the actual clitoris because it's a major nerve centre and you could lose all sensation! ohmy.gif /pedant

I like the look of corset piercings, but I think that the sheer impracticality of them outweighs the value of the look. That said, the adrenal rush you must get from all those piercings must be great, and if you're going to have a play piercing you might as well get one that looks good and provides you with a few scary photos to terrify the grandchildren with when you're 90! biggrin.gif
I_am_the_best
I think that they look really nice but what if you bent over, wouldn't the ribbon tighten and rip all the rings out of your back? I think it would be nice to have just for a small time but I'd be too much of a wimp to ever have that done to me. Urgh.
Rykan
Oh yes, deffinately pretty, but I don't think I could ever have anything like that done.
There was a picture in this months Bizarre of a bint who did her boobs in this way (I can't remember if it was actual piercings or staples... dry.gif If I can find the mag in Fuzzy's room again I'll scan it ^^' ).
{Gothic Angel}
ohmy.gif That's so cool. But really expensive, specially for a one-off. But... wow! Pity I'd be too much of a wuss to have it done biggrin.gif

Edit: Also Ergh! (Contains boobs! So... y'know... not work safe and stuff)

To me, that just looks messy, but the other ones look quite cool. I wouldn't have it done myself but I don't mind some people doing it if they want to and it looks good on them.
Kitty
I think it only looks good on some people.... But would be quite disturbing to me if I was acctually around one of thoes people, I'd have urges to tug on the peircings or something.... huh.gif
Matthew
I've always been facinated by body modifications of one form or another since I was a little kid, probably cos my Dad was ex-forces with loads of tattoos...

I've touched on this in other threads but it's kinda interesting to see what people see as too far with these things, and as tattooing and piercing become more common, it seems that people seem to have the need to go to more and more extremes...

I remember Mata and I seeing photos of this in a body modification studio in San Francisco, as well as a chap with a branding of a Doc Marten boot put on the inside of his forearm!

As an aside, I've got a scarification marks on my back, which seem to freak people out a little, but the reaction that puzzled me the most was from a young lady who said that just seeing them made her physically sick and that she couldn't understand why someone would do that to themselves... not at all odd, except she had tattoo sleeves covering every inch of her body starting at the neck qoing down and intricate vine designs across her temples and forehead!
Righteous
I think they're silly-looking, frankly. I'd be really turned off by a chick with a corcet piercing (this coming from a guy who gets turned on by tattoos, piercings and scarification). I also find it kinda pointless when you'll have to take them out after a short amount of time. I mean, to each his own, but I don't like it at all.

I guess I must have a very strong stomach then for being able to stand there watching and taking photos. I guess it was a bit icky when he was doing the corners: the scalpel would sort of pluck at the skin as he made the tiny cuts to help maintain the shape. That said, I didn't mind at all. In retrospect I guess that was pretty weird really. In that case it was probably stranger for me than for you, because you couldn't see what was happening.

It's funny, but it had never even occured to me that watching my friend be cut could be considered a little nasty!
Cath Sparrow
I think I prefer the side to the back with the corset piercings but that might just be to do with the positioning because when I was looking through the gallery I found to my eye that where people had then placed was to high or I prefered it when the piercings were placed giving the waist shape.
Body modification fassinates me. I wouldn't have a lot of the differn't types done my self but I'd be interested in seeing it done. I actually did my final disertation on Tatooing (dont ask to read it I'm a bad writter).
oscarhilton
O-Oh god ouch!

That has got to be the most painfull thing ever.
Astarael
No, it's not. Here's the beginning of a list of things that would be more painful. Feel free to add to it.
-Thumbscrews
-Being castrated with anything blunt or rusty
-Iron Maiden
-Being burned alive
-A medieval rack
-Being hung, drawn, and quartered
-Electrocution
-Getting your testicles pierced
-The death of a thousand cuts
I've just realized that I've been reading too much fantasy where someone gets maimed or tortured. Must go do something cheerful now. smile.gif

Hmm I dunno, I guess in a black and white photo it doesn't look that bad. But in real life (as you can see from the top photo's) piercings go all red and some times have puss around them. On that basis I dont think many of the short term piercings look that great. It just looks messy if they aren't healed.
I think it would look kinda neat if you were able to have them heal so that there wasn't that pink/red ring around each piercing.

-Getting your testicles pierced

The scrotum is okay apparently, I know a guy who did it to himself. I have a friend who has a sideways apadravya piercing. That goes straight through the glans on the penis. He tells me that it's the most painful thing he's ever experienced. It's so painful that they have to take about half an hour to do it, pushing through a little way at a time, normally leaving you with an expression between this huh.gif and this ohmy.gif

Actually, very new piercings, such as ones used in 'play piercing', usually look fine. The red swollen effect takes a while to appear, and the puss stage isn't reached for a couple of days. A very new piercing generally looks very clean.

Really? I've always found that me and my friends piercings go red about 2 hours afterwards. Even the one I got done with platinum got red really quick. And my friend who got a flesh piercing said it took days to go away. The guy at my local coffee spot had them all down his upper arm and they also looked really red. Maybe it's just somethin in the air here, or maybe they're putting somthing in your food that would to lower you white cell count. I did buy some stuff the last time I got my nose pierced thats supposed to make it go away, but is totally a jip. Contact lense solution works much better.

Anyways, party on dude!
Mata
I usually have a few hours before the redness kicks in, and even then it's not usually that ugly red until the next day. I tend to use antiseptic nipple spray on piercings because it's a very gentle cleaner.
oobunnie
Now is that because it works or because you like the cool tinglely feeling tongue.gif

Mine going red I'll admit is because I have a freakish immune system. I tend to react about %25 faster then the other people I convinced I should be able to poke with a pin to find this out. But wouldn't the time it took to pierce and lace bring you close to the time that skin tends to become inflamed. Atleast for the first portion of piercings?

The only fleash precing I've had was my belly button. Even with ice on it, it took about 4 hours to getting pretty ugly looking.

Fair enough but this is out of choice.

I never said it didn't like it, i just thought it looked rather painfull.
Misty Rain
I think they look great and have considered adding a set but the cost puts me off a bit.

Somewhere here some one refers to womens' corsets. Surely any one, male or female can wear a corset or have a corset piercing?

What did put me off is I prefer to do my own piercings but down the back would be impossible. I think.

Having to drink tea all afternoon with a miserable person.
Being tied down and covered in treacle next to a beehive.
Going out all evening in 4 inch stilleto boots with no spare flatties in the car

A modern rack would probably be OK. All that PVC and stainless steel, very wipeable and sterile. You would not pick up any thing from the previous bleeder like on a wood and rusty iron one.
I was electrocuted once. It's painful, about the same as hitting your hand with a hammer on a cold day. Big electric shocks are OK too. You never know what hit you. A survivor (3 days in a coma) told me.
A lot of the stuff on your list has the advantage of being followed by death so you don't have to keep going on about it.

I would not have my testicles done on the grounds of don't drill holes in something you are still using. Now nipples, they are OK to do. On a man.

I first saw the corset jobby in a picture a few years ago and have always wanted one for myself but cannot afford it. Also would they catch in the strings of my real corset? That would be painfull trying to get it off.
I get the impression from this chat that they are difficult to make permanent. Is this so?

Do you know what - I'm not sure? I think the name was certainly a contributing factor.

Although, I'm going to miss the image of a funky lady cementing the driveway in a corset and embedding pubic hair in the plastering. wink.gif

It has to have come from somewhere because I had the same impression too. I assume it was from a combination of the name and subject matter, I suspect that some of your sexual topics have given the impression of feminine sexual practices which led to assumptions being made. Well, that just goes to show how much fun the internet can be at surprising you sometimes!

Well, there's always Commie with his female profile and his definite maleness trying to confuse newbies. I dunno... corsets are usually feminine clothes. (As is the miniskirt you mentioned buying in the evening glove thread.) I've only seen references to guys wearing them a very few times, usually in bad slapstick comedies. And "Misty Rain" just seems like a feminine name. I suppose (like Snugglebum) I'll miss the image of a funky grandmother-aged lady doing home repairs in a corset and sticking pubic hair into walls for a personal touch. The Internet has me thinking that I've guessed everyone's gender correctly and then I'm surprised like this. I suppose I'll chalk it up as an interesting surprise.

Hullo I'm back.

Misty Rain was a nuclear test but it has a nice ambience of soft autumn evenings with a light mist and drizzle off the sea and the pub on the quay has a soft glow of red and polished brass as the light and your friends laughter leaks out on to the wet cobbles and men and women in corsets heels and fishnets are groping in the alleyways and the occasional scream and giggle as some woman finds the lobster pot she's sitting astride isn't empty sounds across the water.
It's my fantasy OK?

I was a driver for weird people, Goths etc.
I was given, loaned and bought cheap some stuff in order to fit in with the events.
It was a very interesting experience to go out dressed like a strange person in a strange time and place, Whitby, night club in Sheffield etc.
Those days are gone now and I regard this with mild regret. Every one should try it even if only the once.

Still it's nice to be an interesting surprise for you.

Byeeee

Misty Rain

Oh........Corsets are not specifically femininine. Ones with suspenders might be but who knows.

Prinnie, the Regency Prince of Wales was warned that if he went on tight lacing his corset would kill him. Death by a thousand laces?
eighthweasley
Hmmm... I think the corset piercing looks cool up the side, and I do have a fetish for black ribbon, but it's not something I would ever consider having done. All that potential infection and scarification for something so temporary? Just doesn't seem worth it...
