If you could do any job for a week, what would it be? It has to be something that you're not doing now or have done in the past, and you will get all the knowledge of the job for the week so you can do the job.

I can think of a few things I'd like to try:

The head of MI5. I'd love to know all of the secret things that we're never told about.

On the same line of thinking, it would be good to be the US president for a week. It would be very interesting, and it's possible you could put forward some ideas that could improve people's lives.

On a more realistic scale, maybe something like a fashion photographer. I'm always interested to see lives that I'm likely to never be involved with - all the hidden social circles of beautiful people, money, and probably lots of drugs and misery.

What would you like to do for a week?

I'd go for detective in the Dutch Vice squad, really make a difference. When I was doing my last study I learned about the job those guys have to do (for example analysing and categorising pornographic material is a task that has to be done by someone different every two weeks to prevent people from getting depressions, burnouts and suicidal thoughts) and I could make a difference catching pedophiles.

More of a fantasy would be being in a Special Mission Unit of the US (like Seal Team Six, the guys that took down Osama bin Laden), going after the big bad guys.

It's not too late to start training for the Dutch marines if the game development doesn't work out ;D

Haha, I'd wish. Amongst the laundry list of things that are wrong with me is my scoliosis, which means I'd never get through the physical checkup. Believe me, I checked tongue.gif

EDIT: And come to think about it, even if I was to stop/be forced to stop studying game development I'd still learn by myself. *cue Celine Dion*
Daria
I think it would be absolutely hillarious to be a police officer.
Mata
Just put on a boiler suit, half-unzipped and with your bra showing, then drive around on a tank. No-one will ever be able to tell the difference ;D
froggle-rock
*snort*

I think I'd like to do a job in something I take for granted. Like working in a shoe factory, or boiler insulation and check ups, programer or a medical doctor.

Tricky one. *thinks some more*

I'd be an astronaut. That's one of those jobs that I'd want to test out first before actually committing to.
monkey_called_narth
I want to be the queen of England for a week.
Mata
Why? It would be interesting, but I've always wondered how on earth she manages to stop herself from yawning as she sees yet another tribal dance begin in front of her. If I were the Queen I'd demand stand-up comedians everywhere and ban dance troupes.
monkey_called_narth
I would sell the entirety of the crown jewels, and change the palace into a free clinic for mental rehabilitation.

You said I could be anything, and only for a day. The real queen would be broke tomorrow, and the people a lot richer.
Witless
Actually the queen brings in far more money for the people than it costs to maintain her. We'd lose money (a lot of money) if we lost the queen.
Here's why: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhyYgnhhKFw

If I could be any job for a week then that's easy. This isn't a silly answer or an imaginative one, but it is something I would love to do so much. I'd be an astronaut. One that gets to do a space walk.
Pretty simple really. Going to space would be a dream for me.
Cath Sparrow
And our clinic's are already free. Admittedly the health service could do with more cash but you can get free mental health help.

Still not sure what I'd want to do but probably not anything which puts me near big red button that would probably be bad.
monkey_called_narth
Point well taken and I concede.

I'm that case I want to be jack the ripper.
Daria
Killing prostitutes is more of a lifestyle choice than a job, surely?
voices_in_my_head
It all depends on how seriously you take it.

Any job for a week, eh? Having been jobless for awhile now, I'm tempted to say "Freaking anything that would pay me for the week."
However, I'd be a rock star. Getting to go out on stage and have hundreds of people cheer for you? awesome. Or maybe, along the same line of thinking, a stand up comedian. It'd be awesome to not only get the whole cheering-for-you bit, but to make so many people laugh. The best medicine, by far.

Ah, so you actually want to be a university lecturer? ... Or maybe I'm not doing this the normal way... blink.gif

I lol'ed because it's true.

The first time I used the remote microphone in the big hall I just had to say 'HELLO BREDA! ARE YOU READY TO... LEARN?!'. It needed more dry ice to give the full impression, I think.

For some reason it's not hard to see you doing that. Oh and right about now I wouldn't mind being a Q&A tester for Undead Labs for a week biggrin.gif
Mata
I'd like to be the prime minister and push through a lot of taxes on the ludicrously rich as fast as physically possible.
Yannick
I'd like to do whatever Bill Gates does. A week of that, and I'm set for life. Good thing Mata's new taxes won't affect me. tongue.gif

It's boring. I went to the launch party for Rankin's new magazine. (ex-girlfriend contributed on several articles). But yeah. Boring.

I'd like to be... I don't suppose it's a job, but a shaolin monk. But only if they let me keep my hair... biggrin.gif
Mata
A fashion magazine called Hunger? Wow... The jokes are too easy...
Sir Psycho Sexy
I think I raised that point. I got blank looks...
Mata
That'll be the botox.
