Sometimes I wonder, is my life worth it? All the tourment of being loved by noone, it can be burdon. Death is a fact we all have to realize sometimes, but should I fast foward that process?

Blunt enough for you? I didn't want to allow for any lack of definition to cloud my meaning there, and I think I've achieved that goal.

As you say, death is a fact, it's a natural process. It'll happen to you eventually anyway, and all bets are off about what happens next. Love usually turns up when you stop looking for it, so don't obsess over it and eventually it'll come.

Currently my father is getting ready for his second bout of surgery to remove cancer that has spread into his lymphatic system. Life is so precious that I find it nearly offensive that you are even bothering to consider wasting it. I know it may be insensitive, but I stick by my first response: don't be so bloody stupid.

Go and join a club, get out of the house, go for walks, if you can't walk then find a hobby, write a book, make a reading list of all the things you've ever wanted to read and actually get around to reading them. Most people waste their whole life, so look at it from this pespective: every moment that you live from this point onwards can be a celebration of the incredible nature of existence. You could be dead, but you're not, so don't waste it like many people. Do things you really want to do. Learn to paint, organise a trip, learn a martial art, learn to juggle, visit galleries and buildings that you've always wondered about, start a website: don't know how? Then teach yourself. I did and it's changed my life.

You are the one with the power, and you have opportunities in your life millions around the world would love to have. If you don't like your life then go change it, but don't waste it moping around about 'love'. Love comes to those who are chasing their dreams, so get on with doing that, forget about love and it will find you.

Now shut up about this suicide crap and get on with doing something productive.

I think everyone has thought about it at some point or another, even if just for a moment. It just goes to show that we're all equally illogical at times, but I think it is the idea that is stupid, not the person.

Sometimes people say 'what's the point in life?', if there is hesitation in the answer that's really because there are so many reasons to be alive. 'What's the point of death?' from a personal perspective is pretty much impossible to answer without immensely mitigating circumstances (such as chronic illness resulting in massive pain etc.). Death has an evolutionary function, but taking yourself out of the gene pool doesn't even help that. From a personal view death is really pointless. Even if you believe in heaven and an afterlife then you will also be aware of your actions during your life effecting this, so again you should stay alive for as long as possible.

Suicide is a cop out. I lose a whole lot of respect for anyone that tries/commits it. It takes a whole helluva lot more strength to suck it up and make your life worth living than it does to slit your wrists. As for no one loving y ou, it's a load of rubbish. There's always someone who cares about you. You're just too damn blind to see it.

Remember these words: Good things come to those who WORK. Not to those who wait. If you don't like your life, change it, don't end it. Simple as that.

Here's some thinking I did recently. If ever this comes up, remember the following mini-rants:

Yeah, things suck, but they can suck more. If you don't believe that, talk with my mother for a few hours. Not only has her life been Hell (broken home, single mom, etc), but also she works on behalf of people whose lives suck more. She's the president of the local chapter of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. At least you aren't homeless with rotting teeth and schitzo-effective disorder. SHe advocates on behalf of kids in custody battles and similar legal troubles. The stories she has make me want to cry.

Don't think things can't be good. Like Mick said, you have to work for them, even if it means just changing your outlook. Look outside. If it's sunny, great, it's sunny. Go outside. Jump around like a little kid. That's something to live for. If it's raining, go do the same thing. That's something to live for. If you like doings things, do them. Life's cool, even with the things that suck.

If nothing else, think of those who love you and care about you. I put up a thread because in a split second, I realized how many folks on Matazone care about me and would miss me. That's just here on Matazone. I didn't even factor in my family, my friends or the people at my church. If you're upset that others hate you, think about this: It would sure piss them off for you to be living one more day.

Oh, and we love you, too.

Ending your life out of guilt is, forgive the language, bullshit. Hurting yourself isn't penance and even if it was, penance is a bullshit concept because it won't pardon you of your transgressions in the eyes of God, others or your own. I have the marks to prove it.

And look, if no one else loves you, God does, as should you. You shouldn't thrive on the approval of others (yes, easier said than done, I know). It's great and all, but when it comes down to it, it's just you and God (if you're into God, as I am).

And if he hadn't, as I've said before, I'd be beyond contemplating my death.

Life is a precious thing ya know. You can only do it once. So you may as well make the best of it!

If things suck now, then they're bound to get better if you go out and do something new. You'll meet new friends or get closer to your old ones, and it'll keep your mind off being depressed. Hurting or killing yourself won't help anything. Try to think about all the good things in your life and everyone who would be sad if you weren't there. If takes more strength to live and hope than to just kill yourself quickly. People in these forums are here if you want help or a shoulder to cry on. *hugs* Don't lose hope, things will get better.
