I watched it the first time with now sound and thought it was creepy...

I watched it with the sound on the secound time and got pretty creeped out. Really, the music & Echo made the story quite a bit scarier...

I didn't know if the echo was over-doing it. Every time I've listened to an audio book of Edgar Allen Poe it's always had echo on it, and I thought it was to much, but I figured people must be conditioned to respond to echoes so I might as well exploit it! biggrin.gif

Endings in horror are always tricky things to handle, I'm pleased to hear that I got this one right. I had to fiddle with the timing on it quite a lot before I was happy with the pacing of the images. I needed to pick up on the rhythm of the words and repeat that for the final few images to give the sense of the story continuing beyond the poem.

Matazone: Insisting that isn't it just a little bit possible that the creepy ball of skin next to your bathtub could be sentient?

Excellent job, Mata. I think this is one of my new favorites.

Here's where people start continue to question my sanity.

After 4 nights of insomnia the animation's ending hit me so hard in the funny bone I laughed until I had tears in my eyes. Part of me is going "that poor, poor protagonist" and "that monster is a real rat bar steward" and part of me is still giggling. My Boss at work'll wonder why I'm grinning today.

Two thumbs way up!

They do, but it usually says the same thing: modern life is a sham and eventually something inside us, older than we know, is going to want to come out to play... Except maybe 'The Ventriloquist', which was just a bit of fun.

It's good to know I can still traumatise people! Fans of Freud, how many representations of the unheimlich can you spot in the animation?

Marvellous, once again Mata!

I think the truly scary part is when I start thinking about the thought processes that you went through in order to reach such an idea. Images of you picking your skin off one night and then thinking, "Hmm... if only I could make myself a doppleganger from this," are more than a little frightening.

Still: very good stuff indeed!

I think it came from the awareness that we must shed a human amount of our body mass over the course of the year, and wondering how long it would take to shed an entire body's worth. From there it's only a short step to say 'if it was alive once, why can't it be alive again?' That's logical... Right?

*fighting sounds, sword clanging, battle yells, I WIN*

Master Mata, I have returned! *bows with sword in the ground a bit* Forgive me; I have been battling demons, monsters, and college midterms. But I am back now, and am joyous at your update! Though I admit I'm a bit nervous to watch Grey Matter unsure.gif

I take it back. I watched it.

Uh...ew? This is the kinda stuff you think of at 3 am? Bleh...that's disgusting, if I may.

If you've not had a good night's sleep for several weeks then you too will probably think of some pretty odd things in the middle of the night. My trick is to be able to be able to turn a horror motif into a story.

The day after watching this animation, I discovered a scabbed scratch on the back onf my shoulder, which is really itchy, and now I can't scratch it because it freaks me out so much >.>

Hell, I feel nauseous just reading through this thread again.

*takes hat off to Mata*

My work here is done smile.gif

This is precisely why I say that it's a proper horror story, and has oodles of Freud in it; it sticks in the mind then gets you when you thought you had forgotten about it.

PS. Mwahahahahaha. That is all.
