What on earth are you supposed to do in the face of religious bonkers- Options

I had some Jehovah Witnesses or Christians come to my door at 10am the other morning. I thought it was the postman (MUST get a spy hole) and opened the door in my PJs and dressing gown to be greeted with "Good Morning. We're going round the neighbourhood asking if 'God' exists?" If I'd been more with it I'd have said "No" and shut the door in their faces but I'm not rude so would probably have said "Why are you asking me, surely you know the answer to that already?!".....and then shut the door in their faces

I always pretend I speak no English, and just start jabbering in the little Spanish I know. Worked so well until they brought a spanish-speaking Jehovah witness.. they are very persistant.

One of my judgements is that they should have been more precise about what they meant by everything.

Maybe a successful religion (one that survives for hundreds of years) needs either ambiguity to allow it to adapt to changing situations, or a living-godhead (such as teh Pharoahs, or arguably the Pope).
