yyy, Steampunk things looks cool- but I want to see:

Quentin Blake unveils Cambridge 800 panoramaSome of Cambridge University’s most famous alumni have been portrayed as never before by the illustrator Quentin Blake in an epic work of art marking the institution’s 800th anniversary.Oliver Cromwell, John Milton and Charles Darwin are among the famous faces from history who have received a fresh - and often mischievous - new treatment in Cambridge 800; An Informal Panorama.Described as "Cambridge's answer to the Bayeux Tapestry", the mural measures approximately 70 feet in length and consists of 15 original drawings depicting different episodes from the University's history.

Ah yes! I saw that on the news yesterday morning; it looks amazing!

It also reminded me that when I was little, I thought Quentin was a girl's name, and so assumed "Quentin Blake" was a woman. Equally stupid: I thought the Famous Five author was called Gnid ("Guh-nid") Blyton, because of the way the "E" of Enid looked in the handwritten form of her name on the cover.

Aww poop. Sorry to hear your job is ending. Why's that happened?

Thank you for the article smile.gif

... And clear out your PM box. It's full so I couldn't send a 'thank you' privately!

Kids at school now, not enough work for me. And no problem, and emptied (a bit).

I can do 21st in Oxford. Hurrah! I will be driving from Essex so if anyone wants a lift there then drop me a PM and perhaps I can arrange to meet you somewhere near the North side of the M25 (rather than coming into London) or you could get a train nearer me. Kinda defeats the object tho smile.gif

Mata, need to talk to you about my web site at some point smile.gif Can I have somewhere to sleep too? Shall I bring my double inflatable mattress, sleeping bag, etc?

Just realised I actually started this post so I suppose I really should come to this one biggrin.gif

P.S. Who's coming now?

Sam, yep, no problem.

That's the living room full now. If further space is needed then there's the kitchen, but it might be a little chilly because there's lots of glass and no curtains. Assuming it stays dry for long enough at some point then the grass should be mown, so we might be able to fit a tent out there too, but camping in November would probably be bloomin' freezing.

Right so what's the plan then? Usual meeting time of 1pm?? Can you give me directions to your place Mata. I think I'll drive. Considered the train but it's no cheaper and I can stay longer on the Sunday smile.gif Plus I couldn't bring my inflatable bed, sleeping bag, etc. if I didn't bring my car laugh.gif

I'm not sure of the plan at the moment... Sues and I split up this morning. She's gone back to her parent's house and I'm not certain when/if she's coming back. I'll update here when I know more.

I suspect she's not going to be around here much, especially on weekends if at all, so I think everything can go ahead as planned, and frankly everyone's company will be welcome, but I'm sure you'll all understand that today will not going be in the records as my greatest of days.

Yeah, it's not a particularly happy time in my household. It was the right thing to do though. I didn't really want to start a thread about it on here in case Sues decided to read the forums (for the first time) but many of my oldest friends are on these forums and I wanted to write it somewhere.

I just hope I can return the favour and make you smile like you did for me when I was going through all my stuff this time last year. If anyone can help it's the Matazonians. They were so BRILLIANT last year. I can't tell you how warm and fuzzy they all made me feel smile.gif Hugs to you all guys and looking forward to seeing you all again!

Thanks everyone (and to those of you who sent private PMs), it really is appreciated. I was mostly okay yesterday but I've been a bit more teary today. I'm so sad that it ended, but I'm also certain that I've done the right thing for both of us.

I'm lucky in that I live with one of my best friends and he's been a huge support. I do have a friendly listener nearby, but all of the offers are appreciated and I will no doubt bend your ears a bit when we meet up (but hopefully not too much). I'm really looking forward to seeing you all. It has been very comforting to have so many people writing when I've been feeling so mixed about this. *group hug*

I was seeing my family anyway this weekend, so I've been talking with them about my next step, the main thing will be to go looking for a new place to rent. Ho hum. I hate househunting, and that's when I'm in a good mood!
