So syuu got the bright idea she wanted a lipring on the side of her lip in addition to the middle.

Yeah, I did it. I got the ring through after about two hours of struggle. I thought the giant fat lip I was getting was just swelling. Apparently not. I slept and it wasn't gone, so I got rid of the ring. I ditched school from embarrassment, and it's still here. >>; How do I get rid of this atrocity? Or is it scar tissue and will never go down? Yes, ANY suggestion that helps would be nice. I'm so desperate.

Hmm. I'd say put some ice on it to try and reduce the swelling. And maybe try some of that stuff they have at pharmacies that is meant to prevent scarring. I doubt it's a permanent thing though...it'll probably go away.

*looks at my own belly button* Yeah, just a tiny mark there now. I also did a self-piercing thing when I was about your age, and it was REALLY nasty for awhile. Just be careful and keep it clean and don't let it get infected, and it should heal okay.

Body piercing? Personally, I think that purposely sticking sharp needles through ANY part of your person is a bad idea, but you don't want to know that right now... Try cutting your lip open to allow the extra blood to flow out. Then never stick pointy objects through your beautiful face again.

Probably be a good idea to go to the doctor in case it's infected. Although lips are really sensitive so it might just be a fat lip.

Good rule of thumb, if there's pus coming out or it's turning unnatural colours, it's probably infected and you should get to the doctor before it falls off or summat.

if it isn't turning colours or leaking stuff then just put a cold compress on it and switch it with a warm one after a day or so.

Nah, it hasn't leaked anything but blood. I'm not sure if I want to cut it open in case it is scar tissue and that just makes it worse. However.. I may not have a choice. Done the cold thing, I can't understand why it isn't working. I also used advil for an anti inflammatory, no difference there either. What's stupid is, when this is over, I'll try on the other side. I've never screwed up a piercing in my life. I think I just have to stop once it blows up.

Erm, that's probably not a very good idea. That'll just increase her chances of it getting infected.

And it'll take awhile for the cold compress to work. I'd say at a minimum, 48 hours, but even that is a really generous estimate. Probably closer to a week. Fat lips take their time in getting un-puffy.

um, try iceing it, and if the swelling doesnt go down, go back to the place you got it done.... i've never had any of my piercings do that an di have quite a few... so just try that, srry if im not much help

Actually cand, that's extremely reassuring. I'll probably ditch tomorrow too so that I can hold ice on it and make it go down, and then there's a labour day weekend. It's reassuring since.. that means it wont stay that way forever.

It took too long, for one. That crap hurt! Then it ended up infected. REAALLY infected. I think I left the ring in about 2 days. I now have a little bit of a scar, but it's really faded a lot.

And I'm sorry, but lol every kid skips school now and again. Missing two days never hurt anyone. Missing two weeks or months is not such a good idea...but there's no harm in ditching for 2 days. I did so, and I graduated with an Oregon Honors Diploma...

get bactine whipes....... bactine is amazing with infections.. use a wipe across the area three to 4 times a day then before bed.... my friend did the same thing you did and it worked miracles

owwie..poor thing...*hugs and kisses* dont feel bad...I pirced my own belly button...But got in truble for it at school so I had to let it heal up...big ass scare...doesn't matter I have sooooo many scars
