They don't, the age of consent is now the same for same-sex pairings as well.

QUOTE (RejectFairyDoll @ Feb 17 2004, 11:01 AM)
A friend of mine is 15 (she's going to be 16 in a couple of months) and her boyfriend is in hi slate 20's, she has decided that she is ready to have a child so they no longer use protection and she is now convinced that she is pregnant, unfortunatly she told me about her plans a little late and had forgotten about the statutory rape law...

o_O

This may be prying, but may I ask why she feels that she is ready to have a child at 15? Most people tend to try and wait until they are financially able to support a kid on their own (depending on the guy is never a good idea)...and that usually requires at least being out of high school.

Not trying to be preachy here...and I realize that people mature differently. She may indeed be emotionally ready for the responsibilities of a child now. I sure wasn't at 15 (I'm nearly 22, and I still am not ready), but we are different people. But my guess is that she isn't...or she wouldn't even be thinking about having a kid now. If she had the maturity required to care for a baby, she would put off even having one until her life was more stable.

Again, sorry to lecture...but heh, that's how I feel. If she is pregnant, well then that's done. But if she isn't (I gathered from your post that she hasn't taken a test yet?), then perhaps you should try reasoning with her. It might not do any good, but it'd be worth a shot.

Well... like... I always find it strange how that it's illegal to have sex under 18 in Cali, but 15-year-old girls that are pregnant don't get arrested... that's always confused me... so what's the point of the law, then? You know?

But statutory rape... I think ... I don't know, but what if it was your boyfriend's 18th birthday and you were turning 18 in just a few weeks? That's always sorta tricky...
