This kept me amused for far longer than it should have.

20q is an online AI game designed to reproduce the neural structure of the brain. That sounds ludicrously scientific, but honestly 20q is just a silly game. It's the game Twenty Questions, but with a computer, and it's the freakiest thing I've ever played on the compy. It asks you 20 dumb yes or no questions, and when you're finished, guesses what you're thinking of. So far I've tried a shoe, jack-o-lantern, and a sabre. It's the most bizarre thing I've ever seen, but apparantly it's simply an AI program. You have to see it to believe it.

Apparantly the human brain is a lot more predictable or simplistic than we'd like to think it is.

It is only in his work that an artist can find reality and satisfaction, for the actual world is less intense than the world of his invention and consequently his life, without recourse to violent disorder, does not seem very substantial. -Tennessee Williams

It said it was having problems with carrot, but it got it right. I tricked it with a magic 8-ball. biggrin.gif That's really interesting, but not too surprising, actually.

I won every time because it doesn't seem to understand concepts very well.

That was okay. There was another one of them on the web a few years ago, that still is somewhere, but I purged my favourites and I've lost the address. It worked a little better, but achieved the same objective.

Heehee. Yeah, that's cool. Once again, we realise that computers are smarter than we are: they know about things that don't exist to them. Although I did trick it with 'ring'; it guessed things that were too specific- class ring, gold ring (that one I was thinking of was silver, but it doesn't really matter) Hmm... it didn't know DVD.

I wondered if it had been told about.....certain male secretions. It asked:

Can you eat it?

Does your mother know what you are thinking about?
I am not allowed to talk about stuff like this, but,
I am guessing that it has something to do with sex?

I found that kind of funny.
