There must be somewhere where cigarettes burn through the night and the leaves don't abandon their trees to the light, where the sky's always clear and the summer never ends... won't you take me there?

For those of you who don't know I've just moved into a flat on my own in Kidderminster, where I don't really know anyone, and I'm going to be getting a pet hamster for company.

So I've been thinking about names for the little bundle of fluff and was wondering if anyone had any methods for choosing a name for their pets? I'm sure some of you must have amusing stories about pet names, if nothing else!

So c'mon, spill it... wink.gif

Okay so I know this has been suggested before but it's a good idea and although it never happened I'm pretty sure that was down to a lack of organisation not enthusiasm. What am I suggesting? Well, if you can't guess from the topic heading... a camping meet!

Preliminary evidence (aka IRC) shows the idea to be well received and a possible date of the first weekend in July (4th, 5th, 6th) gained positive response.

I'm pretty sure it needs to be somewhere relatively central (easy train access from pretty much anywhere) and we will probably need a few people with cars to ferry people as campsites and train stations are generally not proximal to one another and tents can be heavy. Another essential consideration is how "large, noisy group" friendly campsites may or may not be. We need to be relatively rural so that we don't keep the neighbourhood up all night with our drunken frolics.

So, with that in mind... does anybody have any suggestions for campsites, dates or anything else? I'm happy to make enquiries with possible campsites if people send me details but a general show of hands would be good to start with!

I was just going to revive one of the old festival posts but necroposting is not my thing today.

Anyway, you know how it goes. This is the place to post which festivals you will/want to attend this year! Was anybody lucky enough to get Glasto tickets? Does the Download line up get worse every year? You get my point...

I'm going to the Hay Literature Festival at the end of May for a few days and also to Latitude over in Suffolk over my birthday weekend in July and I can't wait!

So now that it's December people have started asking me what I want for Christmas. My list always ends up being comprised mostly of Books, CDs and DVDs and I need some inspiration.

Basically I want to know what you're looking to find under the tree in 25 days time.

I've got a few already:
DVDs
House (Seasons 1 & 2)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest

Books
Flowers for Algernon - Daniel Keyes
The Virgin Suicides - Jeffrey Eugenides
A Clockwork Orange - Anthony Burgess

CDs
JamisonParker - Notes and Photographs
Jack's Mannequin - Everything In Transit

Wow, it's been a while since I started a topic.

My monitor just went *poof* and I'm pretty sure that it's 'bye bye'. So now I need to buy a new one, I have no idea where to start. I can look on Amazon, Overclockers, whatever but I've no idea what would be good value for money, if there are any brands I should out and out avoid etc. Now you're all clever geeky people and I trust you (and Ste is currently sans internet for at least for however long it takes to get one set up in his new house) so please help.
The current, or previous I guess, is a 15" TFT Hansol job that I've had for about 5 or 6 years so I'm not really used to super HD whatever - bare in mind that I'm a student so budget is important but I'm not a complete cheapskate either and I'm prepared to pay for something that will last, however over the hill it may be in another 5 years.
